Chapter 19 – The Wolf Within the Moonstone
The Temple of the First Moon was no longer silent.
It was screaming.
Silver light erupted from the shattered Moonstone chamber as Wren floated above the ground, her body suspended between human and something far more ancient.
Her curse mark cracked further.
And from beneath it—
A howl echoed through her soul.
The sealed wolf was waking.
Inside the Chamber
Wren’s eyes snapped open.
No longer dull.
No longer broken.
They glowed faint silver.
Her breath trembled as she slowly looked at her own hands—hands that were no longer shaking, but pulsing with unfamiliar strength.
The Moonstone’s energy circled her like a crown.
And then—
Her body shifted.
Not fully.
Not yet.
But enough.
Claws formed briefly at her fingertips before fading again. A phantom tail of energy flickered behind her shadow.
Wren gasped.
She could feel it now.
The wolf inside her wasn’t gone.
It had been waiting.
Above Ground – Hunter Breaks Through
A deafening roar shattered the temple ruins.
“MOVE!” Hunter’s voice thundered.
He tore through the last of the Sentinels, his cursed aura exploding outward in uncontrollable waves. Stone cracked. Ancient runes shattered.
Beta Clay barely kept up.
“Alpha! The temple core is collapsing!”
“I don’t care,” Hunter growled. “She’s still inside.”
With one final strike, Hunter shattered the last barrier.
The temple gate collapsed.
And he jumped into the glowing abyss below.
Reunion in the Light
Hunter landed hard inside the chamber.
The moment his eyes locked onto Wren—
Everything stopped.
She was floating.
Surrounded by moonlight.
Not fully human.
Not fully wolf.
But something in between.
“Wren…” his voice softened for the first time.
The mate bond between them erupted violently.
Wren turned toward him.
And for the first time since her curse began—
She spoke.
A broken whisper.
“…Hunter.”
The sound was weak.
But it shattered something inside him.
Because cursed or not—
She had found her voice.
The Truth Awakens
The Moonstone cracked further.
A new voice echoed through the chamber.
Older than the temple itself.
“The seal is breaking… but the truth must be revealed.”
Suddenly, visions struck Wren again.
This time clearer.
Gertrude.
A forbidden ritual.
A circle of blood-red runes.
And a terrified whisper:
“If the Wolfhart heir awakens her wolf… the curse will consume everything.”
Wren staggered.
Hunter caught her instantly.
His voice turned deadly.
“Gertrude did this.”
It wasn’t a question anymore.
It was a promise of war.
The Bond Changes
The mate bond between them pulsed again.
Stronger.
Deeper.
Dangerous.
Because now—
Wren wasn’t just a cursed mute.
And Hunter wasn’t just a cursed Alpha.
Together…
They were becoming something the world had tried to erase.
