How to Tame a Silver Fox – Episode 27

Chris’s security team sealed the society house, but neither Cole nor the masked shooter remained inside. A service tunnel beneath the archive led to an alley, proving the confrontation had been planned long before Harper arrived.

Christina sat in the library with a blanket around her shoulders while campus police questioned her. Without her practiced cruelty, she looked younger and far less untouchable.

“My father has controlled everything since my mother left,” she told Harper. “Friends, school, even what I post. Becca’s family owes him money, so he uses her too.”

Harper did not forgive the diary or the public humiliation. Understanding Christina’s fear did not erase the choices she had made.

“You still hurt me,” Harper said. “Your father didn’t force you to enjoy it.”

Christina accepted the judgment without argument. She unlocked her phone and revealed months of messages between Sebastian and an account identified only as V.S.

The newest exchange mentioned transferring Mark from a private airfield to Pier Nine. It also demanded the Boston ledger before dawn.

Chris read the messages and called Mark again. This time a stranger answered.

“You have four hours,” the man said. “Bring the original records alone, or your oldest friend becomes another regret.”

The call ended before Chris could trace it. His expression became the same mask he wore whenever fear threatened to become violence.

“There is no original ledger,” Harper reminded him. Their story at the fundraiser had been bait.

“Sloane doesn’t know that.” Chris planned to create a copy convincing enough to trade for Mark. He also intended to make the exchange alone.

Harper blocked the library door. “You taught me that walking into an obvious trap is reckless.”

“This is different.”

“Because it’s my father instead of me?” She held his gaze until he recognized his own hypocrisy.

Christina interrupted with one detail her father had concealed from most people. Pier Nine was not merely a dock; an abandoned cold-storage complex there connected to old smuggling tunnels beneath the harbor.

Chris reluctantly built a plan with Harper, Christina, and his team. Harper would remain in the surveillance van, tracing the earbud’s encrypted signal while he entered with the false ledger.

As they prepared to leave, the earbud activated by itself. Mark’s exhausted voice whispered through the static, “Don’t come to Pier Nine. Evan Mercer is running the whole thing.”
