We Will Love Again – Episode 30
Noah sat across from Nora in a quiet corner of the hotel lobby. The woman before him had endured poverty, protected him fiercely, and taught him to pursue every opportunity. She had also turned that love into permission to control his life.
“I’m not erasing what you did for me,” he said. “But gratitude does not require me to pretend you did nothing wrong.”
Nora’s eyes glistened. “I was afraid you would disappear into her problems and never become who you were meant to be.”
“You were right that I needed to leave.” Noah held her gaze. “You were wrong to believe destroying us was the only way.”
“Would you have gone if she asked honestly?”
He could not lie. “Probably not.”
Nora seized on the answer, but Noah raised a hand. “That would have been my mistake to make. Or ours to solve together.”
For the first time, his mother seemed to see that the result did not absolve the method. Triple AI could not repay the years she took from him.
“I won’t apologize for wanting you to succeed,” she said.
“Then apologize for making Alaina believe she had to become cruel to deserve loving me.” Noah’s voice softened without yielding. “And apologize for paying someone to sabotage her.”
Nora looked away. “I panicked when I saw you choosing her again.”
“I haven’t chosen anyone.” The admission hurt more than he expected. “She may never forgive me for what I did after I came back.”
Upstairs, Alaina stood outside his suite holding the development offer. She had come to decline it in person, determined to build a future no one could mistake for charity.
The partly open lobby below carried voices upward through the atrium. She heard Noah tell his mother that forgiveness was not his to demand.
Nora followed his gaze and noticed Alaina near the elevator. Shame, pride, and fear moved across her face before she stood.
Alaina descended slowly, unable to retreat without making her presence obvious. The three of them met again, but this time no hospital room or office audience shaped the conversation.
Nora faced her. “I believed I was saving my son.” The words came with visible effort. “What I did to your career was inexcusable.”
It was not yet an apology for the breakup, but it was the first crack in her certainty. Alaina accepted it with a small nod.
She handed Noah the offer. “I can’t take this position while our history is affecting every decision around us.”
Noah opened the document and found her resignation attached beneath it. Alaina’s final line was already signed: Effective immediately, I am leaving Crazy Maple Studio.
