Fated to My Forbidden Alpha – Chapter 13
Alexander reached the study door just as the scent of fresh blood grew stronger.
His wolf surged beneath his skin.
Mate.
Without thinking, he pushed the door open.
The room fell silent.
Jackson immediately turned, his expression darkening the instant he saw Alexander standing in the doorway.
“What are you doing here?” Jackson demanded.
Alexander ignored him.
His eyes found Selene almost instantly.
She stood near the window, one hand wrapped around the other where a small cut continued to bleed.
It wasn’t a serious injury.
But to a werewolf…
Especially to one connected by fate…
The scent was overwhelming.
Lyla stirred excitedly inside Selene.
“He’s here.”
Selene looked up just as Alexander crossed the room.
Every step he took felt inevitable.
Like gravity.
Like destiny.
Jackson moved between them.
“Stop.”
Alexander finally looked at him.
“She’s hurt.”
“It’s a scratch.”
“It still needs treatment.”
Jackson folded his arms.
“My pack can take care of its own.”
For several tense seconds, neither Alpha moved.
The air itself seemed to vibrate with restrained power.
Outside the study, nearby guests instinctively backed away from the corridor.
Even wolves with no knowledge of the confrontation could feel the pressure building.
Two Alphas.
Neither willing to yield.
Inside Selene’s mind, Lyla became increasingly restless.
“Something’s wrong.”
“What?”
“I can feel his wolf.”
“Jackson’s?”
“No.”
Lyla’s answer surprised her.
“Alexander’s.”
Selene frowned.
“How?”
“He’s trying to protect us.”
The words made no sense.
Alexander barely knew her.
Why would his wolf react so strongly?
Before she could think further, another wave of dizziness swept over her.
The room tilted.
She instinctively reached for the nearest table.
Alexander noticed immediately.
“So did Jackson.”
Both men stepped forward at exactly the same moment.
Selene closed her eyes.
The strange warmth inside her chest expanded rapidly.
It wasn’t painful.
It felt…
Complete.
As if a missing piece had moved closer.
Alexander’s wolf howled.
Jackson’s wolf answered with a furious growl.
The invisible pressure filling the room became almost unbearable.
Books rattled on nearby shelves.
A crystal glass shattered without anyone touching it.
Luke, who had hurried into the corridor, stopped in disbelief.
“What in the Moon Goddess…”
Drake arrived only seconds later.
His expression mirrored Luke’s.
Neither Beta had ever witnessed two Alpha wolves reacting this violently without shifting.
“This isn’t normal,” Drake whispered.
“No,” Luke agreed.
“It isn’t.”
Meanwhile, Alpha Ethel quietly entered one of the manor’s archives.
Dust covered the shelves.
Old ledgers lined the walls.
He had convinced Blood Moon’s elderly steward to let him examine the oldest adoption records.
“If Selene really arrived fifteen years ago…”
He carefully opened the first ledger.
Names.
Dates.
Transfers.
Nothing.
The second.
Still nothing.
Finally, near the bottom of a weathered page, he found a short entry.
Female child.
Approximate age: three years old.
Found unconscious near the eastern forest after the Bloodwind conflict.
No family identified.
Temporary name assigned:
Selene.
Ethel’s hands trembled.
Three years old.
Exactly the age his daughter had been when she disappeared.
He continued reading.
Personal belongings:
One silver moon pendant.
Child’s blanket.
Unknown crest embroidered in blue thread.
His breathing stopped.
His wife had embroidered that blanket herself.
There was no doubt anymore.
Not in his mind.
“Selene…”
His voice cracked.
“My little girl.”
For the first time in fifteen years, hope outweighed grief.
But before he could investigate further, footsteps echoed outside.
Someone else was coming.
Ethel quietly closed the ledger.
This discovery was too important to reveal too soon.
Not until he had undeniable proof.
Back in the study, the tension finally broke.
Jackson grabbed Selene’s injured hand before Alexander could reach it.
“I said she’s fine.”
His voice carried unmistakable possessiveness.
Alexander looked directly at their joined hands.
“You’re lying.”
Jackson’s eyes narrowed.
“Excuse me?”
“She’s in pain.”
“I know exactly how she feels.”
Alexander’s expression remained calm.
“No.”
His golden eyes shifted toward Selene.
“You don’t.”
The words landed harder than either Alpha expected.
Because deep down…
Jackson knew they were true.
He had never asked how Selene felt.
Never wondered whether she was lonely.
Never cared how many nights she cried herself to sleep.
All he had ever considered was what the mate bond meant for him.
Not for her.
Selene slowly pulled her hand free from Jackson’s grip.
Both Alphas looked at her.
For the first time since entering the room, she spoke.
“I’m tired.”
Her voice was barely above a whisper.
“I’m tired of everyone deciding my future.”
Silence.
She looked first at Jackson.
“You decided to reject me.”
Then Alexander.
“And you decided to protect me.”
She shook her head.
“But neither of you asked what I wanted.”
The words stunned both men.
Lyla smiled proudly inside her mind.
“Good.”
Selene straightened her shoulders.
“I need answers.”
She looked toward the moonlit window.
“About who I really am.”
Behind the partially open door, Alpha Ethel had arrived just in time to hear those final words.
His eyes filled with emotion.
Because he knew something Selene did not.
The answers she was searching for…
Had been waiting fifteen years to find her.
