Fated to My Forbidden Alpha – Chapter 14
Alpha Ethel remained hidden outside the study long after Selene had walked away.
His hands trembled.
Not from fear.
From hope.
For fifteen years, he had searched battlefields, rogue territories, abandoned villages, and distant packs. Every rumor had ended in disappointment. Every lead had faded into silence.
But tonight…
Everything was different.
The crescent-shaped birthmark.
The silver pendant recorded in Blood Moon’s archives.
The timing.
The age.
None of it could be ignored.
“Could it really be you?” he whispered into the empty corridor.
Selene slipped outside the manor to escape the suffocating atmosphere of the engagement party.
Music and laughter echoed behind her, but none of it reached her heart.
She wandered toward the moonlit garden where the noise faded into the rustling of leaves.
Lyla finally spoke.
“You’re overwhelmed.”
“I don’t know what to believe anymore.”
“You know one thing.”
Selene looked toward the full moon.
“What?”
“You’re stronger than you were yesterday.”
Selene smiled faintly.
Only Lyla seemed capable of calming her.
Before she could answer, footsteps approached along the stone path.
She turned.
Alexander.
He stopped several feet away, deliberately keeping his distance.
“I wasn’t trying to follow you,” he said.
“I just needed some air.”
Selene nodded.
“So did I.”
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
The silence between them felt strangely comfortable.
Nothing like the tense silence she shared with Jackson.
Alexander was the first to break it.
“You’ve had a difficult night.”
Selene laughed softly.
“You could say that.”
“I owe you an apology.”
She looked up.
“For what?”
“My arrival seems to have complicated your life.”
“It was already complicated.”
The honesty surprised them both.
Alexander’s expression softened.
“I don’t want to make things harder.”
“Then why does it feel like everything changed the moment you arrived?”
Alexander didn’t have an answer.
Because he felt exactly the same.
Hidden behind a marble column, Tiffany watched the conversation unfold.
Her nails dug into her palms.
There they were again.
Talking.
Looking at one another.
She had never seen Jackson speak gently to Selene.
Yet Alexander treated her with a respect that infuriated Tiffany.
“He has to stop.”
The words escaped in a whisper.
“No…”
She corrected herself.
“She has to disappear.”
An idea slowly formed in her mind.
Tomorrow morning, the party decorations would be taken down.
Servants would be busy throughout the estate.
It would be the perfect time.
An accident.
No one would question it.
After all…
Servants had accidents every day.
Back inside the manor, Jackson stood alone on the balcony overlooking the gardens.
From where he stood, he could clearly see Selene and Alexander talking.
His wolf growled continuously.
Mine.
Jackson gripped the stone railing so tightly that small cracks appeared beneath his fingers.
Luke quietly joined him.
“You should calm down.”
“I’m calm.”
Luke looked at the shattered railing.
“You’ve destroyed three pieces of furniture tonight.”
Jackson remained silent.
Luke sighed.
“You said you were going to reject her.”
“I am.”
“So why are you angry?”
Jackson didn’t answer.
Because he couldn’t.
Nothing made sense anymore.
If he truly intended to reject Selene…
Why did seeing another Alpha near her feel unbearable?
Why did every instinct demand he separate them?
His wolf finally answered for him.
Because she is ours.
Jackson closed his eyes.
“No.”
The denial sounded weaker than before.
Meanwhile, Alpha Ethel requested a private meeting with Alexander.
Inside a quiet library, the older Alpha placed the archive ledger on the table.
Alexander looked down.
“What is this?”
“Proof.”
“Proof of what?”
Ethel opened the weathered pages.
“I think…”
His voice cracked.
“I think I’ve found my daughter.”
Alexander carefully read every line.
The age.
The location.
The pendant.
The battle.
Everything matched the story Ethel had shared years ago.
“You believe it’s Selene.”
“I know it is.”
Alexander looked thoughtful.
“If you’re right…”
Ethel nodded slowly.
“Then Blood Moon has been raising my daughter as a servant for fifteen years.”
The words filled the room with quiet anger.
Alexander’s expression hardened.
“Does Jackson know?”
“I don’t know.”
“But if he does…”
Neither Alpha finished the sentence.
Some betrayals required no explanation.
The following morning, the manor slowly came back to life.
Servants carried tables outside while guests prepared for departure.
Selene volunteered to clean the old storage wing, grateful for an excuse to avoid everyone.
She climbed a narrow staircase carrying a basket of linens.
Above her, hidden among the wooden beams, someone loosened an old support rope.
The heavy chandelier suspended over the hallway shifted almost imperceptibly.
Tiffany watched from the upper landing.
One pull.
That was all it would take.
She wrapped her fingers around the rope.
“Goodbye, Selene.”
She pulled.
The ancient chandelier lurched violently.
Chains snapped.
The massive iron fixture crashed toward Selene.
At that exact instant, Alexander rounded the corner.
His wolf exploded with warning.
“Selene!”
He lunged forward without hesitation.
Across the manor, Jackson felt the mate bond flare with sudden panic.
His heart skipped.
Something was terribly wrong.
He spun toward the servant wing and broke into a run.
Neither Alpha knew whether they would reach her in time.
The chandelier continued its deadly fall.
And directly beneath it, Selene looked up just as the shadow swallowed her whole.
