Fated to My Forbidden Alpha – Chapter 15

The chandelier crashed toward the marble floor.

Time seemed to slow.

Selene looked up just as the iron frame filled her vision.

She froze.

There was no time to run.

“Selene!”

Alexander’s voice echoed through the corridor.

Without hesitation, he lunged forward, wrapping one arm around her waist as he threw them both across the hallway.

A deafening crash shook the manor.

The chandelier exploded into twisted iron and shattered crystal exactly where Selene had been standing a heartbeat earlier.

Dust filled the air.

For several seconds, no one moved.

Alexander instinctively shielded Selene beneath his body until the last fragments stopped falling.

“Are you hurt?” he asked.

Selene blinked in disbelief.

“I… I don’t think so.”

Only then did Alexander realize how close they were.

Their eyes met.

The mate bond surged violently between them.

Warmth flowed through both of them like moonlight.

His wolf purred with unmistakable satisfaction.

Mate.

Lyla answered immediately.

“He’s protecting us.”

Selene felt her cheeks grow warm.

Before either of them could move, another voice thundered through the hallway.

“Alexander!”

Jackson.

He had arrived seconds too late.

The sight before him stopped him cold.

Alexander kneeling beside Selene.

His arm still around her.

Selene looking up at another Alpha with complete trust.

Something inside Jackson snapped.

His Alpha aura burst through the corridor.

Every nearby servant instinctively stepped backward.

“What happened?”

His voice was dangerously calm.

No one answered immediately.

Beta Luke examined the shattered chains hanging from the ceiling.

“This wasn’t an accident.”

The words silenced everyone.

Luke pointed upward.

“The support rope was cut.”

Jackson’s eyes hardened.

Someone had tried to kill Selene.

Hidden on the upper landing, Tiffany quietly stepped away from the railing.

Her heart hammered wildly.

She hadn’t expected Alexander to arrive so quickly.

She certainly hadn’t expected Selene to survive.

For a moment, panic threatened to overwhelm her.

But years of deception had taught her one thing.

Never show fear.

She calmly joined the gathering crowd.

“Oh my Goddess!”

She covered her mouth dramatically.

“Selene!”

She hurried toward the fallen servant.

“Are you alright?”

Selene looked at her strangely.

Something about Tiffany’s concern felt… forced.

Lyla growled softly.

“Be careful.”

“Why?”

“She smells frightened.”

Selene frowned.

Not frightened for her.

Frightened of something else.

Meanwhile, Alpha Ethel knelt beside the broken chandelier.

He carefully examined the severed chain.

A clean cut.

Intentional.

His expression darkened.

“If someone planned this…”

His eyes slowly lifted toward Selene.

“…then someone wanted her dead.”

The realization chilled him.

If Selene truly was his daughter…

Someone had just tried to murder the heir of Bloodwind.

His wolf growled deeply.

Protective instincts long buried began waking once more.

Not again.

He had already lost her once.

He would not lose her twice.

Jackson ordered everyone out of the hallway.

“Clear the area.”

Within minutes, only a handful of people remained.

Jackson.

Alexander.

Luke.

Drake.

Ethel.

Selene.

The atmosphere grew tense.

Jackson looked directly at Alexander.

“Thank you.”

The words sounded reluctant.

Alexander inclined his head slightly.

“I only did what anyone should.”

Jackson disagreed.

Not everyone would risk their life for a servant.

Especially not an Alpha.

His suspicion deepened.

“Why?”

Alexander met his gaze.

“I don’t know.”

It was the truth.

He couldn’t explain it.

His wolf already had.

Mate.

But Alexander still lacked proof.

All he knew was that allowing Selene to die had never been an option.

Later that evening, Selene sat alone in the small infirmary.

The healer had bandaged the scrape on her arm and insisted she rest.

Lyla remained unusually quiet.

Finally, Selene asked,

“What are you thinking?”

“About today.”

“You mean Alexander?”

“I mean everyone.”

Lyla’s tone had become thoughtful.

“Jackson.”

“Alexander.”

“The older Alpha.”

“They all reacted as if your life mattered.”

Selene laughed sadly.

“My life has never mattered before.”

“Maybe you’ve simply been surrounded by people who refused to see your value.”

The words lingered.

For years, Selene had accepted the role others assigned to her.

Servant.

Orphan.

Nobody.

But today…

Three powerful Alphas had risked everything for her.

The contradiction was impossible to ignore.

“Who am I really?”

Lyla didn’t answer.

Because she wanted Selene to discover the truth herself.

Across the manor, Ethel carefully unfolded an old cloth bundle he had carried for fifteen years.

Inside lay a tiny silver bracelet.

Engraved on the inside were two words.

My Selene.

His late wife had commissioned it before their daughter’s third birthday.

The bracelet had never been worn.

It had been intended as a birthday gift.

A gift that was never delivered.

Ethel closed his eyes.

“If she truly survived…”

His voice broke.

“I’ll never let anyone hurt her again.”

Standing nearby, Alexander watched silently.

He could see the grief etched into the older Alpha’s face.

“If the records are correct,” Alexander said quietly, “we need more than hope.”

Ethel nodded.

“We need proof.”

Alexander looked toward the infirmary where Selene rested.

“Then we’ll find it.”

Neither man noticed someone listening from the shadows.

Tiffany.

The moment she heard the words proof and Selene, her blood ran cold.

They were getting closer.

Closer to the truth.

If they discovered Selene’s identity…

Everything Tiffany had fought for would disappear.

She quietly backed away before anyone saw her.

One failed attempt had taught her an important lesson.

Accidents were unreliable.

If Selene had to disappear…

The next plan would leave no chance of survival.

As the moon rose over Blood Moon territory, four separate vows were made beneath the same sky.

Jackson silently swore he would discover who had targeted Selene.

Alexander vowed to uncover the truth behind her mysterious past.

Ethel promised never to lose his daughter again.

And hidden in the darkness, Tiffany made a vow of her own.

Before anyone could reveal Selene’s true identity…

She would make sure there was no Selene left to find.
