Chapter 11 – The Alpha’s Promise
Hunter led Wren through the heart of Silver Moon territory, never once releasing her hand.
The forest that had once terrified her now felt strangely peaceful. Every wolf they encountered lowered their head respectfully before their Alpha, but their curious eyes lingered on the silent girl beside him.
“Is that really his mate?”
“A wolfless rogue?”
“The Moon Goddess would never make a mistake… would she?”
The whispers reached Wren’s ears, reopening wounds she thought had already scarred over. She instinctively pulled her hand away, lowering her gaze.
Hunter stopped walking.
Without caring who was watching, he gently lifted her chin until their eyes met.
“You don’t have to hide anymore.”
His deep voice carried across the courtyard.
“You are under my protection.”
The surrounding wolves immediately fell silent.
Beta Clay stepped forward, unable to hide his concern.
“Alpha… the Elders won’t accept this so easily. She’s from another pack, and she’s been declared a rogue.”
Hunter’s expression remained calm, but his aura became overwhelming.
“They can question me.”
“They cannot question the Moon Goddess.”
Wren’s heart skipped a beat.
For the first time in her life, someone had chosen to stand beside her instead of abandoning her.
As they entered Hunter’s manor, an elderly healer approached. She carefully examined Wren before her eyes widened in disbelief.
“This curse…” she whispered.
“It wasn’t born with her.”
Hunter frowned.
“What do you mean?”
The healer looked at the strange mark hidden beneath Wren’s collarbone.
“Someone deliberately sealed her wolf.”
“And whoever cast this spell used forbidden magic.”
The room fell into a heavy silence.
Hunter’s fists clenched.
Everything Wren had suffered… her silence, her missing wolf, her years of humiliation…
None of it had been fate.
Someone had stolen her life.
Hunter looked at Wren with unwavering determination.
“I swear to you,” he said softly, “I’ll find the one who did this.”
“And when I do…”
“They’ll beg the Moon Goddess for mercy.”
For the first time, Wren felt tears gathering in her eyes—not from despair, but from hope.
Perhaps her story wasn’t ending.
Perhaps it was only just beginning.
