Pregnant and Spoiled by the Billionaire – Episode 6

Amelia followed Bethany through the crowded bar, painfully aware of how little the borrowed skirt covered. She had tried to change before leaving the dorm, but Bethany insisted the uniform was the reason the job paid so well. Now every lingering stare made Amelia wish she had listened to the warning in her own instincts.

“Are you sure we have to wear such short skirts to work here tonight?” she asked, tugging at the hem again. The music was loud enough to make conversation difficult, and the dim red lighting gave the room a secretive, dangerous air. Nothing about the place resembled the casual serving job Bethany had described.

“Relax. Don’t be such a prude,” Bethany replied. She pulled Amelia’s hand away from the fabric and looked her over with cold appraisal disguised as encouragement. “The better you look, the better tips you can make. You said you needed the money.”

Amelia hated how effectively that final sentence silenced her. Three thousand dollars stood between her and losing her dorm room. She reminded herself that she could endure one uncomfortable night, then return to classes and the article she hoped would open better opportunities.

Bethany guided her toward a private section at the back. A man waiting beside the bar straightened when he saw them. He wore an expensive watch and the self-satisfied expression of someone accustomed to buying whatever caught his attention. Bethany greeted him with an enthusiasm she had not shown Amelia all evening.

“Jason! Hi,” she called, hugging him. Then she stepped aside and presented Amelia as though unveiling merchandise. “This is the friend I was telling you about—Amelia Gates.” Jason’s gaze traveled over Amelia slowly enough to make her fold her arms across herself.

“She’s definitely a sexy one,” Jason said. His smile did not reach his eyes. Amelia offered a stiff greeting and looked to Bethany for an introduction that would explain his role at the bar, but her roommate was already pulling him a few steps away.

Their voices dropped beneath the music. Amelia could not hear Bethany name “the usual price” or specify five thousand dollars for the night. She only saw Jason glance at her again, evaluating whether he had made a worthwhile purchase. The sight deepened the unease pressing against her ribs.

“Your friend seems kind of uptight,” Jason murmured. “Are you sure she’ll go for it?” Bethany did not hesitate. She had already decided that Amelia’s consent was irrelevant, and the money mattered more than the trust of the woman who slept across the room from her.

From her purse, Bethany produced a small pill. “This will get her to agree to anything.” She concealed it in her palm as Jason’s pleased expression hardened Amelia’s vague discomfort into fear. When they returned, both wore smiles that appeared rehearsed.

Amelia stepped closer to Bethany and kept her voice low. “I don’t feel comfortable with your friend. I think we should leave.” Jason was still staring, and there were no trays, uniforms, or instructions suggesting either woman had been hired to serve drinks. Every detail contradicted Bethany’s story.

“Amelia, I’m your roommate and your friend,” Bethany said, laying a hand on her shoulder. The word friend carried the weight of all the nights they had shared takeout, complained about classes, and traded secrets in the dark. “Just give me some credit.”

Amelia wanted to believe her. Accepting that Bethany might have deceived her meant admitting she had followed a near stranger into a private bar while no one knew where she was. She glanced toward the exit, calculating how quickly she could leave if the situation became worse.

Bethany lifted a prepared drink from the counter. While Amelia’s attention was on Jason, she let the pill slip into the glass and dissolve among the ice. “Here,” she said, pressing it into Amelia’s hand. “Have a drink and calm your nerves.”

Amelia hesitated with the rim near her lips. She rarely drank, especially while working, but Bethany laughed and took a theatrical sip from another glass. Jason watched with an impatience Amelia mistook for amusement. Not wanting to seem ungrateful after asking for help, she swallowed.

The drink tasted slightly bitter beneath the sweetness. Amelia frowned, but Bethany blamed the alcohol and urged her to finish. Within minutes, warmth spread through Amelia’s limbs, followed by a strange heaviness. The room seemed to tilt whenever she turned her head.

“I don’t feel right,” she said. Her words came slower than she intended. Bethany took the glass from her before she could inspect it, while Jason moved close enough that Amelia caught the sharp scent of his cologne.

Across the room, Leo searched for the place where Amelia had disappeared. A business acquaintance delayed him with a question, and by the time he excused himself, she was no longer near Bethany. The unease he had felt upon seeing her sharpened into something he could not dismiss as jealousy.

Jason closed his hand around Amelia’s arm. She tried to pull away, but her strength no longer obeyed her. Bethany avoided her confused stare and silently accepted the payment transferred to her phone. The truth came together too late: there was no bar shift, no honest way to earn her rent, and no friend beside her.

“Come on, gorgeous,” Jason said, dragging Amelia toward a private hallway. “I’ll show you a night you’ll never forget.” Panic cut through the drug’s fog as the door to the crowded bar receded behind them, and Amelia understood that if she did not escape now, Bethany had sold her into a nightmare.
