Pregnant and Spoiled by the Billionaire – Episode 10

Leo held Amelia’s gaze, searching for any sign that she did not understand what she was asking. The cold water had eased the dangerous heat, and her thoughts no longer seemed lost, but the drug remained in her system. Desire urged him forward while conscience demanded certainty.

“I’ve wanted to kiss you since I first met you,” he admitted. The confession cost him more than any public revelation about his business. He had been drawn to her persistence in the elevator, her fearless questions, and the blush she had tried to hide when he asked if she was single.

Amelia’s pulse quickened. The attraction she had dismissed as one-sided had been real from the beginning. “Then show me,” she whispered. She touched his face with a tenderness that had nothing to do with panic and everything to do with the man who had come when everyone else turned away.

Leo still did not move. “Are you sure?” he asked. “You know what this means?” He would not become another man who decided that her vulnerable condition gave him the right to take. If she showed the slightest doubt, he would step away no matter what it cost him.

“Yes, I’m sure.” Amelia understood that morning would bring questions neither of them could answer, but fear had dictated enough of her night. She wanted this moment to be her choice. Her fingers curled into his wet collar. “Now kiss me.”

The last of Leo’s restraint gave way. “Careful what you wish for,” he murmured before his mouth claimed hers again. The kiss carried all the hunger he had hidden behind professional courtesy, yet his hands remained gentle, as if reminding her that she controlled how far they went.

The antidote arrived before the night could become another danger. Leo helped Amelia take it, waited until the doctor confirmed that her condition was stabilizing, and gave her every opportunity to rest alone. Even after the fever eased and clarity returned, Amelia reached for him.

What followed belonged to both of them, not to Jason’s drug or Bethany’s scheme. Leo carried her from the cold bathroom, wrapped her in warmth, and asked once more if she wanted him to leave. Amelia answered by pulling him down to her, and the city disappeared beyond the penthouse windows.

Morning entered through a gap in the curtains, painting pale light across unfamiliar sheets. Amelia woke slowly, aware first of warmth and then of the steady breathing beside her. Memory returned in fragments until she turned and saw Leo Preston asleep only inches away.

“Oh my God,” she whispered. Her gaze traveled from his bare shoulder to the clothes scattered across the room. “Did I really spend the night with Leo Preston?” The answer was impossible to deny, and a rush of conflicting emotion left her dizzy for entirely different reasons.

She remembered the questions he had asked, the care with which he had protected her, and the moment she had made her choice after taking the antidote. There was no regret in the memory of his arms around her. What frightened her was how much the night had meant.

Leo belonged to a world of penthouses, private doctors, and multimillion-dollar decisions. Amelia was a student whose card had been declined over a six-dollar meal. In daylight, the distance between their lives looked much larger than it had in the dark.

She slipped from the bed and found her phone among her belongings. Several missed calls and notifications crowded the screen, but one message seized her attention: her dorm payment was overdue. She had one week to pay three thousand dollars before losing her room.

The threat she had escaped returned with brutal speed. Bethany’s job had been a trap, her father still had the money, and Amelia had lost the only shift she believed could save her. She sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the notice as panic tightened her chest.

“How am I going to come up with three thousand dollars in a week?” she whispered. She could report Bethany and Jason, but an investigation would not suspend the payment deadline. Her successful article had earned attention, not enough cash to solve the crisis.

Behind her, Leo stirred. He watched Amelia’s shoulders tense over the phone and wondered what had replaced the warmth between them with fear. The night had affected him more than he was prepared to admit, and he wanted to know what burden she was trying to carry alone.

“So…” he began, approaching carefully, “about last night—” He intended to ask how she felt and whether she was safe. For perhaps the first time in years, Leo Preston did not know how to begin a conversation with a woman.

Amelia turned too quickly. The overdue notice filled her thoughts, and the possibility of asking him for help had become impossible to avoid. She hated it, especially now. If she waited, her dorm might be gone; if she asked, he might believe their night had been a calculated way to reach his money.

“I need some money,” she blurted. “Can you—” The sentence sounded terrible the instant it left her mouth. Leo went completely still, every vulnerable thought from the night before retreating behind the cold expression he wore in boardrooms.

“You’re kidding me, right?” he asked. Amelia saw suspicion replace tenderness and realized her worst fear had come true. Before she could explain the stolen paycheck or the dorm deadline, Leo looked at the woman in his bedroom and wondered whether the connection he had trusted had been a transaction all along.
