Pregnant and Spoiled by the Billionaire – Episode 14

Leo caught Amelia before she struck the floor. Her face had gone frighteningly pale, and for one terrible second she did not respond when he called her name. He lifted her into his arms and ordered his assistant to bring the car, every trace of corporate composure stripped away by fear.

His mother followed them into the corridor. “Leo, I didn’t mean—” He silenced her with a look. “You will not question Amelia again,” he said. “Not until you learn the difference between protecting this family and attacking the mother of my child.”

At the private clinic, the doctor assured them that Amelia had fainted from stress, exhaustion, and low blood sugar. The pregnancy remained stable, but she needed regular meals, rest, and less emotional strain. Leo absorbed every instruction as though the doctor were explaining how to keep his entire world alive.

Amelia woke to the soft beep of a monitor and Leo sitting beside her bed. His jacket was gone, his sleeves were rolled up, and worry had carved lines into his face she had never seen before. “How long was I out?” she asked.

“Twenty-three minutes.” The precision revealed how carefully he had counted them. He handed her water and helped raise the bed without touching her more than necessary. “The baby is all right. You need to eat.”

He produced crackers, fruit, soup, and three different drinks from a bag his assistant had delivered. Amelia almost smiled at the excess. “I only fainted. I’m not feeding an army.” Leo’s shoulders eased at the first hint of humor in her voice.

“I didn’t know what you wanted,” he admitted. “So I ordered everything.” That single sentence exposed the problem between them: Leo solved uncertainty by using money and power, while Amelia had spent her life fighting to prove she could survive without either.

She ate enough to satisfy the doctor’s instructions. Leo waited until color returned to her face before asking the question he had avoided. “Why were you unable to pay your dorm fees?” He kept his tone gentle. “You said someone took the money from your account.”

Amelia stared at the soup. The story still carried shame even though the theft was not hers. “My father had access to the account from when I was younger. He withdrew my paycheck and everything I’d saved.” She repeated his answer when she begged for the money back, including the suggestion that she use her looks to survive.

Leo’s hand tightened around the edge of the chair. Jason had treated Amelia as something that could be bought, Bethany had sold her, and her own father had pushed her toward the same danger after stealing from her. “He will never have access to your money again,” Leo said.

“You can’t fix every person in my life.” Amelia heard the exhaustion in her own voice. Leo leaned forward. “No, but I can make sure they don’t keep hurting you. That isn’t buying you, Amelia. It’s standing beside you—if you’ll let me.”

She searched his face for the arrogance that had accompanied the black card and found none. He was still a man accustomed to command, but he was trying to ask instead. That effort weakened her defenses more than any extravagant promise could have done.

“My roommate sold me to Jason,” she said. “My father stole from me. Your mother thinks I’m lying about the baby. I don’t know how to trust anyone right now.” Leo accepted the truth without trying to defend himself. “Then I will earn it.”

Mrs. Preston waited outside the room, having refused to leave despite Leo’s anger. When Amelia agreed, reluctantly, to see her, the older woman entered without her former authority. “What I said was cruel,” she admitted. “I wanted a grandchild so badly that I started seeing every stranger as a threat to one.”

Amelia did not offer immediate forgiveness. “Your grandchild and I are the same threat in your mind until a test proves otherwise.” Mrs. Preston flinched but nodded. “You’re right. I hope you’ll give me the chance to do better.”

After she left, Leo explained that returning to the dorm was unsafe while Bethany still had access to the building and knowledge of Amelia’s routine. He offered a guarded guest suite in his penthouse, promising separate rooms and no conditions. Amelia’s instinct was to refuse anything that made her dependent on him.

Then her phone lit with a message from an unknown number. A photograph showed Amelia leaving the clinic, clearly taken from across the street. Beneath it, Bethany had written: We need to talk before Leo finds out what really happened.

The threat changed the room. Bethany knew Amelia had been drugged and sold, yet she was speaking as if another version of the night could destroy her. Leo read the message and immediately called Derek, asking him to preserve the bar’s security footage and locate every payment Jason had made.

“She’s afraid you’ll expose her,” Leo said. Amelia looked at the photograph again, aware that Bethany had followed her to the clinic. Returning to the dorm would not prove independence; it would place her and the baby within reach of someone desperate enough to drug a friend for money.

“I’ll stay with you,” she agreed, “but only until this is settled.” Relief flashed in Leo’s eyes before his expression hardened at a second message. This one contained an address and a warning: Come alone tonight, or I’ll tell Leo you planned the whole thing with me.
