Falling for My Ex’s Mafia Dad – Chapter 1
Fay Thompson believed she was one of the lucky ones.
In a world full of players, liars, and men who only wanted one thing, Daniel Lippert seemed different.
He was patient.
Respectful.
Kind.
Most importantly, he never pressured her.
For months, Fay had convinced herself she had found the perfect boyfriend. While her friends complained about toxic relationships and broken hearts, she had Daniel—the handsome heir from a wealthy family who treated her like she mattered.
At least, that’s what she thought.
Sitting across from him in their favorite café, Fay smiled as she watched him scroll through his phone.
Daniel looked up and caught her staring.
“What?” he asked with a grin.
“Nothing.”
Her cheeks warmed.
She still remembered the day they met.
She had been sitting alone in a bookstore café, completely absorbed in a romance novel. Daniel had walked over and introduced himself with an easy confidence that made her heart race.
From that moment, everything had felt like fate.
Even now, she couldn’t help smiling at the memory.
A waiter approached their table.
“Can I get you guys anything else?”
Daniel glanced at Fay.
“Maybe some dessert?”
The suggestion made her laugh.
Actually, she wished she could stay longer.
But reality interrupted.
“No, I should go,” she said, checking the time. “I have a psychology evaluation at the prison this afternoon.”
Daniel frowned.
“Already?”
“If I’m late again, my supervisor is going to kill me.”
“Then at least take dessert to go.”
Before she could argue, Daniel stood up.
“I’ll grab it.”
Fay watched him disappear toward the counter.
A small smile lingered on her lips.
He really was too good to be true.
Her phone suddenly vibrated on the table.
Unknown Number.
Normally she would ignore it.
But something made her glance at the screen.
A contact photo appeared.
An older man.
Dark suit.
Sharp jawline.
Cold eyes.
The image radiated power.
Fay blinked.
Daniel’s Dad.
That was the contact name attached to the number.
Interesting.
She had heard stories about Daniel’s father countless times but had never actually met him.
And if the picture was accurate…
Wow.
The man was ridiculously attractive.
For a second, Fay found herself staring.
Then she laughed at herself.
Get it together, Fay.
He’s old enough to be your father.
The phone continued buzzing.
Before she could decide whether to answer, movement near the back hallway caught her attention.
Daniel.
At least she thought it was Daniel.
Confused, Fay rose from her chair.
The hallway led toward the employee area and restrooms.
Why would Daniel go back there?
Curiosity pushed her forward.
Step by step, she followed.
The closer she got, the more voices she heard.
A laugh.
A familiar laugh.
Daniel’s.
Fay slowed.
Something felt wrong.
Very wrong.
Then she turned the corner.
And her entire world shattered.
Daniel wasn’t picking up dessert.
He was pressed against the wall with one of the café waiters.
Their mouths locked together.
His hands roaming freely.
The intimacy was unmistakable.
For a moment, Fay couldn’t breathe.
Couldn’t move.
Couldn’t think.
The romance.
The promises.
The future she imagined.
Everything exploded into pieces around her.
Daniel suddenly looked up.
His eyes widened in horror.
“Fay!”
The waiter jumped back.
Daniel’s face turned pale.
“Fay, wait—”
But she wasn’t listening.
The sound of her own heartbeat drowned out everything else.
Because in a single devastating moment, Fay Thompson realized the perfect boyfriend she trusted more than anyone had been lying to her all along.
And this was only the beginning.
To be continued…
