The forest was thick with tension, shadows stretching like claws across the undergrowth. Wren clutched her cloak tighter around her, heart hammering, as the memory of her banishment still burned in her chest. Every step deeper into the woods reminded her of the pack’s betrayal—and of how utterly alone she had been.

“You’re here,” Wren thought, relief flooding her chest despite the exhaustion.
Hunter moved like a predator, silent, swift, and impossible to stop. His eyes scanned the darkness, alert to every rustle, every breath. “Stay close,” he murmured, a warning and a promise wrapped in one.
Ahead, shadows stirred—wolves who had dared to challenge her, who had sought to harm her. Hunter’s jaw tightened. “They won’t touch you again,” he growled. His cursed energy flared, a warning to anyone foolish enough to interfere.
Wren’s breath caught. No one had ever fought for her like this, no one had ever seen her as more than a cursed mute. But with Hunter, she was more than powerless—she was protected, chosen, and seen.
As they pressed forward, the mate bond pulsed between them, strong and undeniable. Both cursed, both wounded—but together, they might just find a way to break their chains.
