True Heiress vs. Fake Queen Bee — Episode 25
The security manager opened a separate control panel and selected the conservation archive. Unlike the party cameras, the small lens protected artwork from mishandling and operated through an independent network. Candice could not see its angle on the tablet. Gail knew exactly what it had witnessed.
She backed away from the table and insisted the footage would prove nothing. Hailey watched panic spread beneath the girl’s makeup. At school, Gail had always attacked with Candice safely behind her. The possibility of facing consequences alone stripped away that confidence.
The recording began with McKenna entering the storage room and knocking the portrait against a cabinet. Students watched themselves gather in the corridor as the cloth fell away. The camera captured Candice’s shock, her hurried whisper to Gail, and the direction of her glance toward the jewelry room.
There was no clear audio, but Gail’s next movements required no explanation. She slipped from the crowd, entered the reception room, and returned with one hand closed around something bright. While everyone stared at the portrait, she brushed past the table and pushed the bracelet into Hailey’s open bag.
The ballroom erupted. CeCe declared that Hailey had been telling the truth, and Luke demanded that security detain Gail before she destroyed more evidence. Students who had called Hailey a thief now avoided her eyes. Their certainty collapsed as quickly as it had formed.
Gail turned to Candice for protection. “You told me to do it,” she said. Candice reacted with perfect outrage and claimed Gail had acted alone. She would never steal from her own family, she insisted, nor would she ask anyone else to commit a crime.
The denial left Gail speechless. She reminded Candice of the whispered instructions and the promise that Hailey would be gone before the party ended. Candice called her obsessed and unstable. The same loyalty Gail had used to torment others now became evidence Candice discarded without hesitation.
Hailey asked the security manager to preserve the recording and return the bracelet to its case. She did not celebrate. Being proven innocent could not erase how eagerly the room had condemned her, nor how far Dedra had gone to protect the person responsible. Truth had survived, but only because one camera escaped sabotage.
The guards moved beside Gail and requested her phone. She began crying and begged Candice to explain that the plan had been a joke. Candice stepped away as though proximity might make her guilty. McKenna watched the abandonment and quietly lowered her own phone.
CeCe told Gail that planting stolen jewelry was not a joke. Luke added that the laboratory accident and locker-room trap should also be investigated. Other students began recounting incidents they had ignored, each memory changing now that Candice’s authority had cracked. The party turned into an inventory of cruelty.
Candice raised her voice above them. She accused Hailey of manipulating everyone and suggested the conservation video had been fabricated like the biometric access. If Hailey could hack a castle, Candice argued, she could edit a recording. The explanation sounded desperate even to Gail.
Hailey approached until only the stolen Cartier separated them. She said Candice had worn her name, claimed her father, invaded her home, hidden her family portrait, and framed her for theft. The performance was over. Hailey held out her hand and demanded her mother’s watch.
Candice covered the bracelet clasp with her palm. Returning it would be an admission visible to every guest. She insisted the heirloom belonged to her and challenged Hailey to prove otherwise. The words echoed the hallway confrontation, but the audience no longer laughed.
Hailey directed security to the watch’s registration record. Every insured Kaplan heirloom carried a serial number and ownership file. The manager checked his tablet and confirmed the Cartier had been registered to Evelyn Kaplan, then transferred to her daughter, Hailey. Candice’s wrist had become undeniable evidence of theft.
The students stared at the real heiress. CeCe stood beside her exactly as before, while Luke’s expression did not change at all. Those reactions mattered more to Hailey than the sudden awe spreading across the room. She had finally found people who knew her before they knew the fortune.
Dedra began to cry. She admitted that Candice was her daughter and that Hailey had granted the castle code out of kindness. She had disabled the cameras after Candice claimed classmates needed privacy, but she denied knowing about the bracelet. Each confession dismantled another support beneath the false identity.
Candice glared at her mother with open betrayal. She accused Dedra of ruining the life they both deserved and asked why she always chose the Kaplans over her own child. Dedra replied that protecting Candice from consequences had not been love; it had helped her become someone willing to destroy innocent people.
The front doors opened before Candice could answer. A wave of cold night air entered the foyer, followed by the castle’s senior security team. The party guests fell silent as Frank Kaplan stepped inside, still wearing the tuxedo from his foundation dinner. His gaze traveled over decorations, strangers, and the uncovered family portrait.
Hailey had expected him to remain away until midnight. She saw confusion become alarm when he noticed the bruise on her cheek and the guards surrounding Gail. Then his eyes settled on Candice, who wore Evelyn’s Cartier and stood beneath a banner declaring herself the Kaplan heiress.
“Hailey,” Frank said, moving protectively toward his daughter. “What happened here?” Before she could answer, Candice straightened and tried one final impossible lie. She called him Daddy in front of the entire school, and Frank Kaplan stopped dead, staring at the stranger who claimed to be his child.
