The sender suggested a title for her next broadcast: *Billionaire Buys Teen’s Expulsion*. Candice understood the strategy immediately. She would not need to prove that Frank bribed the board; she only needed viewers to see money near a punishment and supply the corruption themselves. Suspicion had protected her before, and she was desperate enough to trust it again.
She began streaming from the public sidewalk outside campus. With cameras already waiting, the audience multiplied within minutes. Candice displayed the selected pages and claimed she had been expelled because the Kaplan family threatened to bankrupt the school. She called herself a poor student punished for believing a misunderstanding that administrators had encouraged.
Inside the building, phones lit up despite Adams’s request that students focus on class. Hailey watched the broadcast from the conference room with Luke and CeCe. Candice’s performance felt painfully familiar, but the documents behind her added authority that edited castle footage had lacked. Someone had converted private evidence into a weapon before the hearing room had emptied.
Frank’s communications team offered to release Candice’s disciplinary history, Gail’s complete confession, and photographs of every injury Hailey had suffered. Hailey refused. The response explained that funding for scholarships and direct programs had never been withdrawn, while unrestricted administrative spending remained frozen pending review.
Their statement slowed the spread of Candice’s claim but did not end it. Supporters called the timeline corporate propaganda; others noticed that Candice never addressed the stolen watch, planted exam pages, or false transport directions. For the first time, her audience divided before accepting the version she offered. The anonymous sender responded by urging her to post something the Kaplans could not calmly explain.
A new attachment appeared on Candice’s phone. It contained Hailey’s class schedule, the classrooms outside which Adam would wait, the entrances assigned to the Kaplan driver, and the emergency route used if reporters blocked the main gate. A red warning identified the document as a sealed security annex. Candice hesitated because even she recognized that publishing it crossed a different line.
The sender accused her of losing courage now that the crown had been taken away. It promised that public pressure would force Frank to remove Hailey from Western High, proving the real heiress could not survive without purchasing control. Candice remembered students watching her leave and pressed upload.
Adam saw the post thirty seconds later. He moved Hailey away from the windows, notified castle security, and ordered the driver to abandon every route listed in the document. The schedule revealed when Hailey would be separated from crowds, where a vehicle would wait, and which doors staff expected her to use. It was no longer gossip; it was a map of vulnerabilities.
Principal Adams initiated a temporary lockdown while officers searched the perimeter. Hailey hated the way every protective measure made Candice’s claim appear true. Adam stood between her and the corridor, Frank demanded immediate withdrawal from Western High, and classmates now associated her presence with locked doors. She had fought to remain part of the school; one confidential document had transformed her into the reason it closed around them.
Frank arrived through a secured service entrance and insisted they leave. Hailey did not argue this time. Different arrangements of punctuation and spacing identified the authorized recipient even when screenshots removed names.
She compared the pattern with the distribution register. The annex had never been sent to teachers, students, or the former interim administrator. Principal Adams held a separate operational version, and Frank’s security team had received only a route summary. The leaked copy belonged to one of nine school-board packets.
Mercer enlarged the tracking marks on the conference-room screen while Adams watched. The pattern narrowed the source to the governing body that had just expelled Candice. Someone with the authority to judge the fake heiress had secretly handed her the means to endanger the real one.
