Noah showed Alaina Aaron’s message. Courtney had obtained hospital dates, Oxford records, and details of Peter’s role in the breakup.
“She wants an interview before broadcasting,” he said.
Alaina stared at the dark water beyond the promenade. The truth she once feared revealing had become valuable content for someone else.
“How did she get the records?”
“We don’t know.” Noah’s anger remained controlled. “My legal team can seek an injunction if private medical information is involved.”
Alaina appreciated the distinction. He offered protection against unlawful disclosure, not control over what she chose to say.
They returned to her apartment and called Courtney together. The interviewer sounded less predatory than the message suggested.
“Someone offered me a complete story,” Courtney explained. “I contacted you because parts of it appear manipulated.”
The source claimed Alaina and Nora had conspired to manufacture Noah’s billionaire origin story. It turned genuine harm into a publicity scheme.
“That’s false,” Alaina said.
“Then help me establish what is true.”
Noah wanted to refuse on both their behalf. He looked at Alaina and waited.
She agreed to provide a written statement limited to the breakup. Her mother’s illness would remain private.
Nora joined by video and accepted responsibility for approaching Alaina. Her willingness to be publicly judged surprised them both.
“I caused the separation,” Nora said. “Alaina did not exploit my son. She protected the future she believed he wanted.”
Courtney verified the statement with Peter and archived messages. The conspiracy claim collapsed.
The investigation shifted toward the anonymous source. Technical data connected it to a public-relations contractor once hired by Abigale.
Noah asked Courtney to omit Abigale’s name until the evidence was conclusive. Revenge had already done enough damage.
After the call, Alaina realized Noah’s return flight had departed. “You missed it.”
He checked the time as a storm warning canceled the remaining flights. Noah would have to stay in her one-bedroom apartment overnight.
