“Then release it,” Noah said. “Do not let another accusation arrange your life.”

Alaina returned to set while Noah worked from her apartment. Distance within the same city felt healthier than abandoning their obligations.

For several hours, Alaina’s work existed louder than the scandal around her.
Noah watched the trailer alone. The final line spoke of loving someone enough to tell them the truth, even when truth might make them leave.
He understood the message without assuming it was meant only for him.
At the production office, the team applauded Alaina. She accepted their praise without redirecting it to circumstance or luck.
The producer offered to extend her contract through postproduction. It would keep her in San Francisco beyond six months.
Alaina asked for time. The old version of her might have refused before telling Noah.
Instead, she called him that evening and explained the offer.
“Do you want it?” he asked.
“I don’t know yet.”
“Then decide what the work means before deciding what the distance means.”
As they ended the call, Alaina received the audience report. Her series had become the platform’s most-watched new release—and Los Angeles wanted her back to lead a much larger production.
