Pregnant and Spoiled by the Billionaire – Episode 9

Leo brought Amelia to his penthouse because it was closer than the private clinic and far safer than returning her to the roommate who had betrayed her. By the time he carried her inside, her skin burned against his arms. She drifted between awareness and confusion, holding on to him whenever he tried to set her down.

He called the doctor Derek had reached and described her symptoms. The drug appeared designed to lower inhibitions while producing dangerous heat and disorientation. Until an antidote arrived, the doctor instructed him to keep her conscious, cool her body, and watch her breathing.

Leo carried Amelia into the bathroom and filled the deep tub with cool water. He removed only her shoes and the light outer layer she had worn to the bar, preserving as much of her dignity as the situation allowed. When he lowered her into the bath, the cold shocked a gasp from her.

“Luke, what’s the ETA on that antidote?” Leo demanded into his phone. His assistant promised that a courier was bringing it as quickly as possible, but traffic had slowed the route across the city. Every minute sounded intolerable while Amelia shivered in front of him.

“It’s so cold,” she murmured, drawing her knees toward her chest. Panic entered her eyes as the water cut through the drugged heat. Leo knelt beside the tub and kept one hand around hers, reminding her where she was and that Jason could no longer reach her.

“I know,” he said. “Stay with me, Amelia. Help is coming.” It was the first time he had used her first name aloud. Even through the haze, she noticed, and her grip tightened as though the intimacy of it made him safer.

Amelia’s thoughts came in broken flashes: Bethany’s smile, the bitter drink, Jason’s hand, and Leo standing between them. Shame tangled with terror. She had trusted the wrong person and nearly paid an unimaginable price, but Leo had seen her at her most helpless and treated her with nothing except care.

Her shivering worsened. Leo reached for a towel on the far side of the tub, intending to drape it around her shoulders. Amelia mistook the movement for withdrawal and caught his sleeve. “Don’t leave me,” she pleaded.

“I’m not going anywhere.” He leaned closer to reassure her, but Amelia pulled with more force than either expected. His balance failed against the wet marble, and he fell into the tub beside her in a surge of water that soaked his clothes and spilled across the floor.

For a startled second, they simply stared at each other. Leo’s usual composure had vanished beneath dripping hair and a ruined dress shirt. A breathless laugh escaped Amelia, the first sound from her all night that did not carry fear.

“Are you okay?” Leo asked, his hands settling at her waist only to keep her from slipping. Their faces were far too close. Amelia became aware of the strength in his arms and the contrast between the cold water and the heat gathering wherever he touched her.

“Better,” she whispered. “I’m just cold.” The drug clouded the edges of her judgment, but it did not create the attraction that had begun in his office. She had wondered about his gaze for days, replayed the brush of his fingers against hers, and carried his card like a private secret.

Leo knew she was vulnerable. He should have climbed out, wrapped her in towels, and waited at a safe distance for the antidote. Instead, he remained caught between the responsibility to protect her and the desire he had denied since their first conversation.

Amelia’s hands slid up his chest, seeking warmth through the soaked fabric. Her eyes were clearer than they had been at the bar, fixed on him with trust rather than confusion. The closeness sent a dangerous current through Leo, but he did not move until she made her choice unmistakable.

“I know how to warm you up,” he murmured. The words emerged rougher than he intended. He brushed damp hair from her cheek, giving her every chance to pull away. Amelia leaned into his palm instead.

Their first kiss began carefully, almost as a question. Leo tasted hesitation, relief, and the attraction both of them had hidden beneath professional words. When Amelia answered by drawing him closer, restraint became far more difficult.

The kiss deepened, turning the cold bath into a world of heat and rushing breath. Amelia forgot Jason’s hands and Bethany’s betrayal for one precious moment. In Leo’s arms, she felt desired without being purchased and protected without being controlled.

Leo broke away long enough to search her face. He needed to know whether she saw him or merely the fevered illusion created by the drug. “Amelia,” he said, his thumb resting against her lips. “Look at me.”

She did. The haze had not fully lifted, but recognition and longing shone clearly in her eyes. The antidote was still somewhere across the city, while the woman who had unsettled him from their first meeting sat trembling in his embrace.

Amelia pulled him back toward her and whispered that she did not want him to stop. Leo’s last defense strained beneath the invitation, because the feeling between them was no longer an accident in a cold bathtub. If he kissed her again, the night might carry both of them past a line neither could erase by morning.
