Pregnant and Spoiled by the Billionaire – Episode 8

“She’s not going anywhere!” Jason lunged toward Amelia, but Leo shoved him back with enough force to send him stumbling. A curse exploded from Jason as nearby patrons retreated. Behind Leo, Amelia gripped his jacket and fought to remain conscious.

Leo turned just enough to see her face. “Ms. Gates?” The formality sounded strangely gentle amid the chaos. Amelia lifted unfocused eyes to him. “Mr. Preston?” she breathed, as though she still could not believe the man from her interview had appeared.

“Are you okay?” he asked. Her flushed skin and trembling body made the answer obvious, yet he needed to hear her voice. Amelia shook her head and whispered, “Please help me.” The frightened plea was nothing like the fearless voice that had challenged him during their interview. Those three words destroyed the last restraint on Leo’s anger.

Jason straightened his jacket, humiliated by being handled in front of the crowd. “How dare you?” he demanded. “Do you have any idea who I am?” Leo looked him over with open contempt, finding nothing in the man worth fearing.

“I don’t care,” Leo said. “Get lost before I lose my patience.” It was not an empty warning. Derek recognized the tone and stepped closer to Amelia, ready to protect her if Leo decided to teach Jason a more physical lesson.

Jason mistook calm for ignorance. “I’m Jason Wallis, son of the CEO of Wallis Enterprises.” The family name usually ended arguments before they began, opening private doors and silencing anyone who threatened consequences. He pointed at Amelia as if she were property being withheld from him. “Be a good boy and give me my bitch back before I have you both killed.”

Leo’s gaze turned glacial. “Ian Wallis is your father?” he asked. Jason heard recognition and smiled, convinced the balance of power had shifted. “You know my dad?”

Derek gave a humorless laugh. “He knows him well. In fact, he’s the biggest investor in your father’s company.” Jason’s smile began to fade. “The moment he pulls his investment, Wallis Enterprises goes bankrupt.”

“Yeah, right,” Jason scoffed, but doubt had entered his voice. He looked Leo over more carefully—the tailored suit, the quiet authority, and the crowd’s stunned silence. Men who depended on Wallis money were already backing away from him, while no one dared challenge the stranger protecting Amelia. “Only someone like Leo Preston could pull that off.”

Derek gestured toward his friend. “Well, meet Leo Preston.” The name traveled through the bar in murmurs. Amelia, still leaning against Leo, felt his arm tighten protectively around her as Jason’s face drained of color.

“You’re Leo Preston?” Jason asked. Arrogance collapsed into panic. One reckless night had placed his father’s company, his own future, and his family’s fortune in the hands of the man he had just threatened to kill.

Derek watched the realization with grim satisfaction. Jason had believed wealth made him immune to consequences; he had simply never met someone with enough power to impose them. Leo did not raise his voice. “Go home and tell your father our partnership is canceled.”

Jason rushed forward, no longer interested in Amelia. “Wait, Mr. Preston, this is some kind of mistake. Please don’t cancel the contract. My dad will kill me.” His pleas drew no sympathy from the people he had intimidated only moments earlier.

Security finally appeared now that Jason was the one being removed. He fought their grip and shouted that Leo was making a mistake, then threatened lawyers as they hauled him toward the exit. His protests echoed through the bar until the doors closed behind him.

The danger had passed, but Amelia could not stop shaking. She looked up at Leo, her thoughts slipping in and out of focus. “Thank you, Mr. Preston,” she managed. She had pursued him for an article and barely knew him, yet he had risked a valuable partnership without hesitation to protect her. The gratitude in her voice affected him more deeply than Jason’s threats ever could.

Leo touched the back of his fingers to her cheek and felt unnatural heat. “You don’t look well. Your face is red.” Amelia tried to answer, but the floor tilted. He caught her against his chest before her knees gave way.

“I just feel so dizzy,” she whispered. Her pupils were unfocused, her breathing uneven, and the symptoms had worsened far too quickly to be explained by alcohol. Leo remembered the drink near Bethany, Jason’s payment, and Amelia’s inability to fight.

“You’ve been drugged.” The realization left him sick with fury. He ordered Derek to find out what she had been given and call a doctor he trusted. Derek was already reaching for his phone when Leo lifted Amelia into his arms.

She curled instinctively toward his warmth, one hand closing around his shirt. Leo had spent years protecting his privacy and controlling every risk, yet carrying Amelia through the watching crowd felt more urgent than any calculation. He would deal with Jason, Bethany, and Wallis Enterprises later.

For now, Amelia needed somewhere safe before the drug overwhelmed her. Leo carried her toward his car while Derek tried to secure an antidote, but her fevered body trembled harder with every step. When she buried her face against his neck and begged him not to leave her, Leo realized the rescue was only the beginning of a far more dangerous night.
