Fated to My Forbidden Alpha – Episode 1

After the last Blood Moon wolves left the courtyard, Selene remained on her knees beside an overturned serving tray. Broken glass glittered across the stones, and laughter seemed to cling to the walls even after the party moved inside. Her cheek still burned where Tiffany had slapped her for spilling wine she had been shoved into dropping, yet no one had stayed to help.

Pack members had stepped around her as though she were another piece of debris. To them, Selene was only the wolfless orphan who scrubbed their floors, carried their meals, and slept in the servants’ wing. Blood Moon claimed to shelter her, but belonging required more than being useful enough to keep alive.

She picked up the largest shard and hissed when it cut her thumb. A bead of blood gleamed beneath the torchlight, strangely bright against her skin. “One day, I’ll leave this place,” she whispered, but the promise sounded painfully small beneath walls built to remind her that she had nowhere else to go.

Until she turned eighteen, pack law denied her the right to choose another territory. Afterward, a girl without a wolf would be defenseless beyond the border, easy prey for rogues or any Alpha who considered weakness an invitation. Jackson had repeated those facts often enough that caution and captivity had begun to sound like the same thing.

Selene carried the ruined tray into the kitchen, where greasy platters covered every counter and spilled wine stained the floor. The cook pointed at the mess without asking about her swollen face. Selene washed dishes in water gone cold, swept the silent great hall, and finished every task the celebrating wolves had abandoned before slipping outside after midnight.

The forest was the only place that asked nothing of her. Pine and damp earth replaced smoke and perfume as she followed a narrow trail away from the packhouse. With every step, the knot beneath her ribs loosened, and the distant music faded beneath branches moving softly in the winter wind.

She walked farther than usual until moonlight found a stream hidden among mossy stones. Lowering herself onto a flat rock, Selene studied the face wavering in the water: tangled dark hair, tired eyes, and Tiffany’s red handprint across one cheek. By morning, Tiffany would forget the slap. Selene suspected her own body would remember long after the bruise disappeared.

“Three days,” she murmured. Her eighteenth birthday would bring no cake, family stories, or gifts, but it might bring the wolf every werewolf was supposed to carry. Most children sensed theirs years before shifting; Selene had never dreamed through another pair of eyes or heard a second voice inside her mind.

Three days remained until hope became truth or humiliation. If no wolf awakened, Blood Moon would stop pretending she was merely late and declare her defective beyond dispute. Broken, useless, worthless—the words had followed her since childhood, changing voices while keeping the same cruel meaning.

Selene pressed her forehead to her knees and imagined freedom anyway. She pictured a distant river where no bell summoned her, a room with a door no one could open without permission, and mornings that belonged entirely to her. The dream felt impossible, yet surrendering it would mean Blood Moon had already taken everything.

She raised her face toward the full moon. “Moon Goddess, I don’t need to be powerful,” she prayed, exposing a hope she usually guarded more carefully than pain. “I only need a chance. Please hear me.” Her voice disappeared among the trees, and for one breath nothing answered.

Then the forest fell silent. The owl beyond the stream stopped calling, the branches stilled despite cold air brushing Selene’s skin, and even the water seemed to lower its voice. She unfolded slowly, every nerve alert as the darkness beyond the path acquired the weight of something watching.

Warmth gathered in the center of her chest. It did not burn like fever or ache like fear; it pulsed gently in time with a rhythm that was not quite her own. Selene pressed her palm over her heart and felt an answering beat beneath the frantic movement of her pulse.

A silver glow appeared between two pines upstream. Too steady for an insect and too bright for mist, it hovered at the edge of sight like a doorway refusing to open completely. Selene rose, nearly slipping on wet leaves, and followed when the light retreated deeper into the trees.

Each time she came close, the glow moved behind another trunk. It led her into a clearing where moonlight poured unobstructed across the ground, then brightened until the surrounding trees cast long black shadows. Within it stood the outline of something that might have been a woman or an enormous silver wolf.

“Wait,” Selene called, moving one step closer. The figure vanished before her eyes could understand it, and ordinary darkness rushed back into the clearing. Insects resumed their song, branches creaked, and the stream sounded loud again, leaving her to wonder whether desperation had taught her mind to manufacture miracles.

The warmth beneath her palm beat once more, stronger than before. Selene could not see the silver figure, but she no longer felt entirely alone. Something old had noticed her prayer, and whatever it left inside her was beginning to wake.

Hundreds of miles away, Alpha Alexander Kane sat upright in a darkened room. His golden eyes opened as his wolf surged toward the eastern horizon with enough force to shake years of discipline. No enemy had crossed Nightwind’s border, yet every instinct demanded that he rise and follow a living presence he could neither name nor see.

The faint connection carried loneliness, stubborn hope, and the echo of a prayer never meant for him. Alexander gripped the edge of his bed while his wolf went utterly still. He had attended ceremonies across the country and met every eligible woman ambitious families placed before him, but his soul had never answered anyone like this.

One word rolled through his mind with the weight of sacred law: Mate. Alexander turned toward Blood Moon territory as Selene stood beneath the same silver sky, unaware that her plea had awakened more than the power inside her—and that the most dangerous Alpha in the country had just begun searching for her.
