Fated to My Forbidden Alpha – Episode 3

Selene stood outside Alpha Jackson’s office with one hand raised toward the door. His summons had reached her in the laundry room without explanation, and he rarely noticed her unless a task was unpleasant enough for everyone else to avoid. Being called into the Alpha wing had never led to kindness.

Muffled laughter slipped through the wood before she could knock. Tiffany’s bright voice mingled with Jackson’s lower reply, leaving Selene uncertain whether obedience meant entering or waiting. Jackson punished delay as readily as interruption, so she drew a careful breath and eased the door open.

The laughter stopped. Jackson looked up from behind his desk while Tiffany turned from where she leaned against it, one possessive hand resting on his shoulder. Their silence made Selene feel guilty before anyone accused her. She barely began to explain the summons when Jackson’s expression hardened.

“What the hell are you doing?” Alpha authority filled his voice and pressed against Selene’s shoulders. She lowered her gaze by instinct, though resentment flared beneath the reflex. “You asked to see me, Alpha.” Jackson rose and demanded to know why that gave her permission to enter without knocking.

Tiffany suggested Selene had been watching them. The accusation was absurd, but humiliation heated Selene’s face because any defense could be labeled insolence. Blood Moon’s rules shifted whenever cruelty needed permission, and Tiffany had spent years mastering that advantage.

“I wasn’t watching,” Selene said quietly. Jackson ordered her to address him properly even though she already had, as if the slight pause before his title offended him more than open disobedience. “Yes, Alpha,” she answered, letting bitterness hide beneath the word.

Jackson’s wolf moved restlessly under his skin. For years, Selene had occupied the edges of his awareness—a quiet orphan carrying trays and disappearing into the servants’ halls. Lately, he noticed her footsteps before she entered, the empty space after she left, and the fading bruise on her cheek with an anger he refused to examine.

Tiffany followed his gaze and stepped between them. Curiosity could become interest, and she would not allow a wolfless servant to claim even a moment of Jackson’s attention. When she demanded to know why Selene was there, Jackson’s answer struck both women silent. “Tiffany, leave us.”

Her smile turned brittle. She touched his arm and asked whether he was choosing Selene over her, but Jackson pulled away and repeated the order. Humiliation stripped sweetness from Tiffany’s face as she turned toward the servant she now considered responsible.

Tiffany paused close enough for her perfume to crowd Selene’s breath. “You’ll regret this,” she whispered before sweeping into the corridor and slamming the door. The framed maps trembled, and Selene understood that Jackson’s attention had made her life more dangerous without giving her anything she wanted.

An uncomfortable quiet settled over the office. Jackson moved to the window overlooking the training yard, pretending to watch his warriors while his reflection studied Selene. “Your eighteenth birthday is in three days,” he said, startling her more than anger would have.

No one at Blood Moon celebrated her birthday. Selene had assumed Jackson barely knew she possessed one, yet he asked whether she had experienced dizziness, pain, unusual senses, or dreams. His intensity made the questions feel less like concern than an investigation whose purpose he refused to share.

Selene remembered the silent forest, the silver figure, and the second heartbeat beneath her palm. Those fragile mysteries belonged to her, and offering them to Jackson would invite ridicule or control. “No,” she answered, too quickly at first, then repeated the denial with greater care.

Jackson came around the desk. His wolf pressed nearer the surface with every step, drawn by the bond he had spent years forcing into silence. He had expected the secret to remain manageable until Selene turned eighteen, but her approaching awakening was already tearing holes through his control.

“Was there something you needed me to do?” Selene asked. He stopped close enough for her to see amber flecks in his eyes and smell cedar beneath his clothes. The air between them tightened around a recognition she did not understand, making retreat feel both necessary and strangely difficult.

Pain exploded beneath Selene’s ribs. She folded forward with a gasp as something powerful stretched awake inside her, pressing against blood and bone like a creature testing a locked door. The agony vanished almost immediately, leaving her knees unable to support her.

Jackson caught her arm before she struck the floor. Warmth surged through the contact, charged with an intimacy neither of them had chosen to reveal. He released her as though burned, but his wolf lunged after the connection with a possessive growl.

Selene forced herself upright. For several breaths, the office became unnaturally clear: the grain in the desk, heartbeats beyond the corridor, and every layer of Jackson’s scent. Then the heightened world dulled, leaving her dizzy while fear moved behind the Alpha’s stare.

Silver light flashed through Selene’s eyes. Jackson saw it vanish with her next blink, yet the image remained branded into him. Whatever slept inside the wolfless servant was neither weak nor ordinary, and it was awakening sooner than anyone had predicted.

Far beyond Blood Moon, Alexander stopped in the middle of a council report as his wolf erupted with power. The bond burned alive in his chest, no longer a distant whisper but a clear summons. Mate, his wolf declared, while Jackson stood inches from the same woman—and Alexander realized something inside enemy territory was already trying to claim what fate had called his.
