I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers – Chapter 8
The lunch stand was busier than ever.
Construction workers lined up around the block, drawn by Mrs. Lincoln’s cooking and Raina’s infectious energy.
Standing nearby, Theo Jones watched the scene unfold with growing curiosity.
He still couldn’t shake the feeling that he had met Raina before.
Every smile.
Every expression.
Every gesture.
Something about her felt incredibly familiar.
Meanwhile, Noah was trying his best to survive the embarrassment of being used as advertising.
Theo chuckled as he approached.
“Theo!”
Noah groaned.
“Shouldn’t you be eating at some Michelin-star restaurant instead of hanging around here?”
Theo smirked.
“I never expected the famous Noah Lincoln to be showing off for a few bucks.”
Noah shrugged.
“I’d do anything for my baby sister.”
The pride in his voice didn’t go unnoticed.
Raina walked over carrying a lunch box.
“Here’s your lunch.”
Theo accepted it with a smile.
The exchange immediately caught Noah’s attention.
“You two know each other?”
“No.”
“Yeah.”
The awkwardly synchronized answers made everyone pause.
Raina quickly tried to explain.
“This is Theo Jones.”
She pointed toward him.
“He’s… my boss.”
“Your boss?” Noah repeated suspiciously.
Raina nodded enthusiastically.
“Then I’ll ask Mom to give the boss man two extra pieces of meat.”
Theo couldn’t help laughing.
For a moment, everything felt strangely comfortable.
Then a sharp voice cut through the crowd.
“Well, well.”
The atmosphere instantly turned cold.
Raina stiffened.
She recognized that voice immediately.
Coco.
Dressed in expensive designer clothes and surrounded by admirers, Coco looked completely out of place at the construction site.
A smug smile spread across her face when she spotted Raina.
“If it isn’t the little thief who stole my family.”
The workers around them fell silent.
Raina lowered her eyes but said nothing.
Unfortunately, Coco wasn’t finished.
“What are you even doing here?”
She glanced around the dusty construction site and laughed.
“Working for a bunch of construction workers?”
“How pathetic.”
The insult made several workers frown.
Noah’s expression darkened.
Joshua looked one second away from losing his temper.
But Coco continued.
“This girl spent twenty years living the life that should have been mine.”
“Luxury.”
“Wealth.”
“The Smith family.”
She pointed directly at Raina.
“She stole everything from me at birth.”
“And now look at her.”
“Serving food on the street.”
“Karma really is a bitch.”
The words hit harder than Coco realized.
Because someone else was listening.
Theo.
His eyes widened slightly.
His mind immediately connected the pieces.
Twenty years.
The Smith family.
A girl raised as a Smith daughter.
A girl who had disappeared shortly before Coco appeared.
Suddenly, memories he had been struggling to understand began falling into place.
The brave girl who had saved him years ago.
The age matched.
The timeline matched.
Even the personality matched.
The kindness.
The courage.
The warmth.
Nothing about that girl resembled Coco.
But it resembled Raina perfectly.
Theo slowly turned toward her.
His heart pounded.
For the first time, the truth seemed painfully obvious.
“So she’s the Smith girl…”
His gaze never left Raina.
The realization struck him like lightning.
The girl he had spent years searching for.
The girl who had saved his life.
The girl he thought was Coco.
Was Raina all along.
And if that was true…
Then everything he believed was a lie.
