Hillbilly Girlie Marries a Billionaire – Chapter 6
The morning after the flash marriage felt unreal.
Emily stood in front of the hotel mirror, staring at a version of herself that didn’t quite feel like her anymore. The girl from the countryside, the girl who carried corn on the cob into the city, the girl who believed in five-year love stories…
That girl had signed a marriage certificate.
To a stranger.
A billionaire stranger.
Lucas Anderson.
She exhaled slowly as the bathroom door opened.
Lucas walked out like nothing in the world had changed—shirt crisp, posture perfect, expression unreadable.
“You okay?” he asked casually.
Emily blinked. “Oh… yeah.”
He gave a small nod. “Good. I have some errands to run. Take your time.”
He paused at the door.
“Buy yourself some clothes.”
Then, as if remembering something important, he added, “Be ready tonight. I need you at an event.”
And just like that—he was gone.
Silence swallowed the room.
Emily sat down slowly on the edge of the bed.
Her mind spiraled.
Did I really just marry a stranger?
Her fingers trembled slightly.
And worse—
Does that mean I have to… do that with him tonight?
She buried her face in her hands.
“…He’s hot though,” she muttered under her breath, immediately regretting it.
Then reality hit harder.
Mom’s hospital bills…
The thought steadied her.
“This marriage… it might actually save her.”
That evening.
A luxury banquet hall glittered under crystal chandeliers.
Lucas stood beside Emily as cameras flashed and guests whispered.
“My wife,” Lucas said calmly, “is here.”
A few heads turned.
Then the doors opened again.
And the air changed.
A woman walked in—perfectly styled, sharply dressed, confidence dripping from every step.
Her eyes locked onto Emily instantly.
“You,” she said coldly.
Emily frowned. “Me?”
The woman scoffed. “You’re the country girl who stole my spot as CEO’s wife.”
A murmur spread through nearby guests.
Emily blinked. “CEO’s wife? What are you talking about? Don’t play dumb.”
The woman stepped closer, voice tightening.
“You got there before I did. You took my place.”
Emily tilted her head slightly.
“I didn’t know surrogacy was such a hot job,” she said bluntly.
Gasps.
The woman’s expression twisted.
Emily didn’t stop.
“So what if I’m from the countryside?” she continued. “At least I’m healthy. You, on the other hand, look like you’d snap in half if you tried to have a baby.”
Silence.
Then—
“What did you just say?” the woman snapped. “You bitch!”
Emily didn’t flinch.
For the first time since arriving in the city, she didn’t back down.
Lucas stood beside her, watching quietly.
And for reasons he didn’t yet understand…
He didn’t stop her either.
The banquet had only just begun.
And Emily Davis was no longer running.
