Hillbilly Girlie Marries a Billionaire – Chapter 8
The mansion didn’t feel real.
It felt like a place built to test whether someone like Emily Davis truly belonged inside it—or would eventually wake up and realize it was all a mistake.
But the clothes on the bed were real.
Rows of designer dresses. Elegant heels. Soft fabrics that looked too expensive to even touch.
Emily stood in front of them, completely stunned.
“All these… are for me?” she asked softly.
A staff member bowed slightly. “Of course, Mrs. Anderson.”
Mrs. Anderson.
The title still didn’t fit right on her tongue.
She reached out hesitantly, brushing her fingers over a dress.
“So soft…” she whispered. “These are… comfortable.”
Brand tags she didn’t recognize. Fabrics she had never worn in her life. A world she had only seen through screens.
“How can he be so generous…” she murmured.
The closet felt endless. Shoes lined up like they belonged in a museum. Jewelry boxes she didn’t dare open too quickly, as if they might disappear if she moved wrong.
“There’s so many beautiful things…”
And yet, none of it felt heavier than the fact that it all belonged to her now.
Later that night.
The hallway was quiet.
Too quiet.
Emily, already dressed for the evening banquet, walked slowly toward the master bedroom—nervous about the event Lucas had mentioned.
She raised her hand slightly.
Knocked.
No answer.
“…Lucas?” she called softly.
The door wasn’t fully closed.
It opened with a small push.
And the world stopped.
Lucas Anderson stood just inside.
Fresh from the shower.
Hair still slightly damp.
Water tracing along his shoulders.
And for exactly two seconds—neither of them moved.
Emily’s brain froze.
Lucas turned.
And time snapped.
“Wait—I—!” Emily gasped, immediately spinning around.
But it was too late.
The towel situation did not cooperate.
A chaotic moment of panic, shouting, and pure instinct followed—
Emily tripped backward.
Lucas caught her instantly.
Too fast. Too close. Too unavoidable.
The air between them collapsed.
For a second, neither spoke.
Only the sound of both of them realizing this situation had gone very, very wrong.
“…Sorry,” Emily whispered, face burning. “I didn’t know you were— I thought— I knocked—”
Lucas sighed.
Not angry.
Just… caught off guard.
“It’s fine,” he said finally, adjusting the situation with calm precision that somehow made it worse.
Emily quickly turned away again. “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!”
Behind her, Lucas exhaled slowly, as if trying to reset his entire existence.
Minutes later.
Emily stood in the hallway, still red-faced, clutching the edge of her dress like it could anchor her dignity back into place.
Her heart was racing for reasons she refused to analyze.
This is fine. This is normal. This is just… marriage contract stuff…
Inside the room, Lucas leaned against the wall, one hand brushing through still-damp hair.
His expression unreadable.
But his thoughts—
weren’t as calm as his face.
Later that night, as Emily looked at herself in the mirror wearing clothes she never thought she’d afford, she whispered again:
“How is he real…”
And somewhere in the house, Lucas Anderson was already preparing for the banquet—
completely unaware that the girl he had rescued from the rain…
was quietly becoming the one thing in his perfectly controlled life he couldn’t easily calculate.
