I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers – Chapter 6

The moment Theo Jones left the Smith mansion, an uneasy feeling settled in his chest.

Something wasn’t right.

The entire visit had gone according to plan. He had finally found the girl he believed had saved his life years ago.

Yet instead of excitement, all he felt was doubt.

Back inside the mansion, Coco was celebrating silently.

A billionaire heir wanted to marry her.

Theo Jones was handsome, powerful, and unbelievably wealthy.

Any woman in Brookfield City would dream of such an opportunity.

Still, one thought lingered in the back of her mind.

I definitely didn’t save Theo’s life.

Her fingers tightened slightly.

If anyone had saved him, it was probably Raina.

But why should that matter now?

Raina was gone.

And Theo was standing in front of her.

Across the room, Mrs. Smith smiled brightly.

“Coco, when exactly did you save Theo?”

“Was it when you were still living with the Lincolns?”

Coco forced a laugh.

“It was so long ago.”

“I don’t remember all the details.”

She hesitated.

“But I vaguely remember helping him.”

The answer satisfied nobody.

Especially Theo.

Throughout the conversation, he studied Coco carefully.

The girl in his memories had been brave.

Kind.

Fearless.

Someone who had rushed into danger without a second thought.

But the young woman sitting before him felt completely different.

When Mr. Smith brought up marriage, Theo immediately interrupted.

“We shouldn’t rush things.”

The room fell silent.

Theo offered a polite smile.

“I think we should spend some time getting to know each other first.”

His gaze landed on Coco.

“After all, if Miss Coco Smith isn’t interested in me, I’d never want to force her into something she doesn’t want.”

Coco quickly shook her head.

“No one’s forcing me.”

“I’d love to get to know you.”

The answer sounded perfect.

Yet somehow, it only deepened Theo’s doubts.

Mr. Smith nodded approvingly.

“You’re a smart young man, Theo.”

“A strong relationship should come before marriage.”

“If the two of you truly connect, marriage can come later.”

The conversation ended soon afterward.

Theo politely excused himself and headed for the door.

“And Coco,” he said with a small smile.

“I’ll see you soon.”

The moment he left, Coco’s smile vanished.

“Daddy, why did you stop me earlier?”

She folded her arms in frustration.

“This is the Jones family we’re talking about!”

“One of the richest families in Brookfield.”

Mr. Smith sighed.

“These things can’t be rushed.”

“Marrying into the Jones family is a wonderful opportunity.”

“But love takes time.”

Coco’s expression darkened.

“You still like Raina more than me.”

Without waiting for an answer, she stormed away.

Meanwhile, Theo sat quietly in the back of his car.

His assistant glanced at him through the rearview mirror.

“Sir, didn’t you originally plan to propose today?”

“Why leave so quickly?”

Theo stared out the window.

The city lights blurred past.

“She’s not at all like I remember.”

The assistant shrugged.

“People change.”

“That’s life.”

Maybe.

But Theo couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.

Then suddenly—

His eyes widened.

A familiar figure appeared on the sidewalk outside.

A young woman carrying bags of groceries.

Simple clothes.

Bright eyes.

A smile that looked strangely familiar.

Theo’s heartbeat skipped.

A forgotten memory flashed through his mind.

The same eyes.

The same smile.

The same girl who had once pulled him from danger.

“Wait!”

Theo suddenly sat forward.

“Stop the car!”

The driver slammed on the brakes.

And for the first time since arriving in Brookfield, Theo felt like he might finally be close to the truth.
