The Alpha Queen Returns – Chapter 10
The atmosphere inside Jessica’s clinic was calm.
For the first time in days, she felt reassured.
Ambassador Ansel had successfully transferred the billion dollars to the Russo family, and in her mind, Caroline’s future seemed more secure than ever.
Ansel bowed respectfully.
“If there are no further instructions, My Queen, I’ll go prepare for General Sarabeth’s welcome banquet.”
Jessica nodded.
“Very well.”
But before Ansel could leave, the clinic door burst open.
A powerful aura swept through the room.
General Sarabeth stormed inside.
Behind her stood Mina and several elite soldiers.
Ansel blinked in surprise.
“General Sarabeth?”
The next second—
SMACK!
Sarabeth’s fist crashed directly into Ansel’s face.
The ambassador staggered backward, nearly falling over.
Jessica shot to her feet.
“Sarahbeth!”
Mina looked equally shocked.
Even Ansel clutched his jaw in disbelief.
“What did I do?”
His voice was filled with confusion.
Sarabeth looked ready to kill him.
“You bastard.”
Ansel frowned.
“What are you talking about?”
Sarabeth took another step forward.
“If it were up to me, I’d skin you alive.”
The room fell silent.
Jessica had never seen Sarabeth this furious before.
Not even during war.
“Enough.”
Jessica’s voice cut through the tension.
“What has gotten into you?”
Sarabeth turned toward her Queen.
For a moment, anger flashed across her face.
Then it became something else.
Disappointment.
Pain.
Frustration.
All mixed together.
“It’s Caroline.”
Jessica froze.
The mention of her daughter immediately erased every other thought.
“What about Caroline?”
Sarabeth stared directly into her eyes.
The question that followed struck harder than any weapon.
“Did you honestly believe she was better off with the Russo family than with you?”
Jessica’s expression changed.
“What?”
“She’s your daughter.”
Sarabeth’s voice trembled with emotion.
“She belongs with you.”
Jessica frowned.
“Caroline is happy there.”
The moment the words left her mouth, Sarabeth’s anger exploded.
“Happy?”
She laughed bitterly.
“You call that happy?”
Jessica’s heartbeat quickened.
For the first time, uncertainty crept into her mind.
Sarabeth pointed directly at her.
“Did you even investigate those people before sending Caroline away?”
Jessica opened her mouth.
No answer came.
Years ago, she had trusted Ambassador Ansel’s recommendation.
She had trusted the Russo family.
And because she desperately wanted Caroline to have a normal childhood, she had never questioned that decision.
Not once.
The realization made her stomach twist.
Ansel finally spoke.
“General, what exactly happened?”
Sarabeth rounded on him.
“You recommended that family.”
Ansel frowned.
“At the time, they had an excellent reputation.”
“Not anymore.”
The room fell silent again.
Sarabeth turned back toward Jessica.
For years, she had followed every order without question.
She had fought wars beside the Alpha Queen.
Protected her kingdom.
Defended her decisions.
But this time was different.
“My Queen.”
Her voice softened.
“I have stood beside you for years.”
Jessica looked at her oldest friend.
“I have never once challenged you.”
The pain in Sarabeth’s eyes was impossible to miss.
“But you were wrong about this.”
Jessica felt her chest tighten.
“No.”
She shook her head.
“Caroline would have told me if something was wrong.”
Sarabeth’s expression darkened.
“Would she?”
Jessica hesitated.
Memories flashed through her mind.
Caroline’s trembling voice.
Her frightened eyes.
The desperate request to come home.
Mom, can I live with you?
Jessica suddenly felt cold.
Sarabeth extended a recording crystal.
“Watch.”
Jessica stared at it.
Her hands trembled slightly.
“What is this?”
“The truth.”
The crystal activated.
Immediately, moving images appeared.
Jessica watched Caroline kneeling on a floor.
Scrubbing by hand.
Wearing dirty clothes.
Being treated like a servant.
Her eyes widened.
“No…”
Then Reva’s voice echoed through the room.
“You’re the bastard daughter of a worthless peasant healer.”
Jessica froze.
“You’re nothing but a slave in this pack.”
The color drained from her face.
The insults continued.
The humiliation.
The threats.
Every cruel word.
Every tear Caroline tried to hide.
Jessica’s breathing became uneven.
“No…”
Then came the moment that shattered her heart.
“If you want to keep your mother safe, you’ll obey us.”
Caroline lowered her head and silently endured the abuse.
Not for herself.
For Jessica.
The crystal recording ended.
The room fell into complete silence.
Jessica couldn’t move.
Couldn’t speak.
Couldn’t breathe.
All this time…
Her daughter had been suffering.
Terrified.
Alone.
And she had never known.
A single tear slid down Jessica’s cheek.
Then another.
The legendary Alpha Queen who had conquered kingdoms suddenly looked like nothing more than a devastated mother.
Sarabeth watched quietly.
No one spoke.
Because they all knew what came next.
The Russo family had lied.
Manipulated.
Abused the princess.
And now Queen Jessica finally knew the truth.
The storm they had created was about to fall upon them.
And when the Alpha Queen came for them…
No one would be able to save them.
