Fifteen years.

For Alpha Ethel, every single day of those fifteen years had felt like torture.

The walls of Bloodwind Pack’s council chamber were covered with maps, battle reports, and fading portraits of former Alphas. Yet only one image held his attention.

A small painting hanging above the fireplace.

A little girl with bright eyes and a joyful smile.

His daughter.

Selene.

The daughter he had lost fifteen years ago.

Ethel stood silently before the portrait while rain battered the windows.

Everyone told him to move on.

Everyone told him there was no proof.

No body.

No witnesses.

No evidence.

But a father’s instincts needed none of those things.

The Blood Moon Pack had attacked his territory fifteen years earlier.

The battle had ended.

The dead had been counted.

And his daughter had disappeared.

Vanished without a trace.

Since that day, Ethel had never stopped searching.

Not once.

“Where are you?” he whispered.

The room remained silent.

Then footsteps echoed behind him.

A warrior entered.

“The convoy is ready, Alpha.”

Ethel’s eyes hardened.

“Good.”

Today, he would finally demand answers.

Today, someone would help him find justice.

Or vengeance.

Whichever came first.

Hours later, Ethel stood inside the grand council hall of Nightwind Pack.

The air carried the scent of power.

Nightwind was the strongest werewolf pack in the country.

Its Alpha, Alexander, commanded respect from every territory.

Few Alphas dared challenge him.

Even fewer dared ask favors of him.

But Ethel was beyond pride.

He had buried too many hopes already.

“Fifteen years,” he growled.

His fists trembled at his sides.

“Fifteen years without a word about my daughter.”

Alexander remained seated behind a massive oak table.

His expression was calm, but attentive.

“What exactly are you asking of me, Ethel?”

“I’m asking you to honor your promise.”

The room fell silent.

Years earlier, during a territorial war, Ethel had saved Alexander’s life.

The debt remained unpaid.

Now Ethel intended to collect.

“The Blood Moon Pack attacked us.”

His voice cracked with emotion.

“My daughter disappeared afterward.”

He pointed toward the map spread across the table.

“I know they took her from me.”

Alexander’s Beta shifted uneasily.

“That’s a serious accusation.”

“It doesn’t matter.”

Ethel slammed his hand onto the table.

“They know something.”

His eyes burned with fury.

“They always have.”

For several seconds, Alexander said nothing.

Then he rose slowly to his feet.

The room immediately became tense.

When the Alpha of Nightwind stood, everyone listened.

“You believe Blood Moon is responsible.”

“I know they are.”

Alexander studied him carefully.

Years of grief had carved deep lines into Ethel’s face.

This wasn’t politics.

This wasn’t territory.

This was a father searching for a child.

Finally, Alexander nodded.

“I will investigate.”

Relief flashed across Ethel’s face.

“You mean it?”

“I owe you my life.”

Alexander’s gaze sharpened.

“And if Blood Moon has hidden the truth…”

His wolf stirred beneath the surface.

“They will answer for it.”

After Ethel departed, Nightwind’s Beta entered the room.

“My Alpha.”

Alexander was staring through the window toward the distant mountains.

“Speak.”

“Are you truly considering a confrontation with Blood Moon?”

Alexander folded his arms.

“What concerns you?”

“Jackson.”

The Beta frowned.

“The Blood Moon Alpha is unpredictable.”

A faint smile touched Alexander’s lips.

“I’ve heard the stories.”

“Most of them are true.”

The Beta hesitated.

“He’s violent.”

“Arrogant.”

“Impulsive.”

“Exactly.”

Alexander turned away from the window.

“Which makes him dangerous.”

For a moment, his expression darkened.

Yet beneath his calm exterior, something else bothered him.

Something he couldn’t explain.

The previous night, his wolf had sensed something unusual.

A strange pull.

A faint connection.

As though fate itself had whispered his name.

The sensation had disappeared quickly.

But not completely.

Even now, it lingered.

Waiting.

Calling.

His wolf shifted restlessly.

Mate.

The word surfaced unexpectedly.

Alexander frowned.

Impossible.

He had searched for his mate for years.

Why would fate choose now?

And why did the feeling seem to come from Blood Moon territory?

Miles away, inside the Blood Moon Packhouse, Jackson was occupied with far less important matters.

Tiffany sat comfortably on his lap while music echoed through the room.

She laughed as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

“Jackson, stop worrying.”

He barely listened.

Something felt off.

For reasons he couldn’t explain, he was unusually distracted today.

His wolf was restless.

Irritated.

Searching.

Jackson poured another drink.

Tiffany kissed his cheek.

“Baby?”

No response.

His eyes drifted toward the window.

Toward the dark forest beyond the territory.

Toward the same forest where a servant girl often escaped when nobody was watching.

A strange unease twisted in his chest.

Then suddenly—

His wolf growled.

Hard.

Violently.

Jackson froze.

The glass slipped from his fingers and shattered across the floor.

Tiffany jumped.

“What the hell?”

But Jackson wasn’t listening anymore.

Because somewhere far away, fate had begun moving faster.

And neither Alpha knew that the missing daughter Ethel mourned…

was already living inside Blood Moon territory.

Closer than anyone could possibly imagine.
