Fated to My Forbidden Alpha – Chapter 7
The Nightwind Pack convoy was scheduled to leave before sunrise.
Preparations had been underway for days.
Warriors polished vehicles.
Betas reviewed security routes.
Servants loaded gifts and supplies.
Everyone understood the significance of the trip.
Alpha Alexander Kane rarely attended social gatherings.
When he did, people paid attention.
Inside Nightwind’s council hall, Alexander stood before a large map of werewolf territories.
His gaze lingered on one region.
Blood Moon.
Soon.
Very soon.
Beta Drake entered carrying a leather folder.
“The route is secured.”
Alexander nodded.
“Good.”
Drake hesitated.
“There is one more thing.”
Alexander didn’t look away from the map.
“There always is.”
The Beta placed several documents on the table.
“Regarding Jackson’s engagement party.”
That finally earned Alexander’s attention.
“What about it?”
Drake opened the folder.
“I’ve prepared a list of gifts.”
Alexander glanced at the paperwork.
Rare wines.
Silver-crafted ceremonial blades.
Trade agreements.
Political offerings.
The usual.
“Get him something decent.”
Drake blinked.
“That’s all?”
Alexander shrugged.
“We’re guests.”
The response surprised him.
Normally Alexander had little patience for social obligations.
“Why be generous?”
Drake asked.
Alexander’s expression became unreadable.
“Because we keep our friends close.”
A faint smile touched his lips.
“And our enemies closer.”
The answer sent a chill down Drake’s spine.
Because when Alexander spoke like that, he was usually planning five moves ahead.
Blood Moon thought this was a social visit.
Alexander was coming for answers.
Answers about Alpha Ethel’s missing daughter.
Answers about the strange mate bond that had haunted him for weeks.
And perhaps answers about why fate kept dragging his attention toward Jackson’s territory.
“Understood, Alpha.”
Drake gathered the documents.
Then paused.
Actually…
There was one issue left.
A very uncomfortable issue.
“Alpha?”
Alexander already sounded annoyed.
“What?”
Drake placed another folder on the table.
This one contained photographs.
Several photographs.
Alexander immediately knew where the conversation was heading.
“No.”
“Alpha, hear me out.”
“No.”
“They’re excellent candidates.”
“No.”
Drake sighed dramatically.
“At least look.”
Alexander folded his arms.
Drake flipped through the photos anyway.
One by one.
Beautiful she-wolves.
Strong bloodlines.
Powerful families.
Future Luna material.
At least according to every political advisor in Nightwind.
“She’s the daughter of the Silverfang Alpha.”
“No.”
“This one commands her own warrior division.”
“No.”
“Former Luna candidate.”
“No.”
Drake groaned.
“Can you pretend to consider it?”
Alexander looked genuinely offended.
“Why would I?”
“Because you’re thirty.”
Alexander stared.
“Twenty-nine.”
“Basically thirty.”
Alexander stared harder.
Drake wisely continued before he got thrown through a wall.
“The point is, people talk.”
Alexander remained silent.
“The strongest Alpha in the country.”
Still silent.
“Unmated.”
Silence.
“No Luna.”
More silence.
“No heir.”
Now Alexander looked irritated.
Drake pressed forward anyway.
“If Blood Moon discovers you’re still unmated, they’ll question it.”
The room became quiet.
Most Alphas hated discussing the subject.
Many eventually settled.
Some accepted second-chance bonds.
Others chose political marriages.
Alexander had done neither.
For years.
Because deep inside, he had always believed his mate existed somewhere.
Waiting.
The problem was that waiting had become increasingly difficult.
Political pressure grew every year.
Pack elders complained.
Allies asked questions.
Rivals whispered.
Drake wasn’t wrong.
An Alpha without a Luna invited speculation.
Finally Alexander spoke.
“Let them question.”
His voice was calm.
Confident.
Dangerously so.
Drake knew that tone.
It meant the discussion was already over.
“I’m Alexander Kane.”
Simple.
Direct.
Final.
Nobody questioned Alexander’s authority.
Not because he demanded respect.
Because he earned it.
Every day.
Every battle.
Every decision.
His strength alone silenced most criticism.
Drake rubbed his forehead.
“I tried.”
“You did.”
“And failed.”
“You did.”
The Beta sighed.
Then a faint smile appeared on Alexander’s face.
A rare occurrence.
Drake immediately became suspicious.
“Why are you smiling?”
Alexander walked toward the window overlooking Nightwind territory.
The moon hung high above the mountains.
Beautiful.
Ancient.
Watching.
His wolf stirred beneath his skin.
Restless.
Expectant.
Hungry.
“Maybe none of it matters.”
Drake frowned.
“What doesn’t?”
“The rumors.”
“The politics.”
“The candidates.”
Alexander’s golden eyes reflected moonlight.
For the first time in weeks, he felt hopeful.
Because the bond was getting stronger.
Every day.
Every hour.
Closer.
Much closer.
His wolf practically vibrated with certainty.
Mate.
Alexander exhaled slowly.
“Let’s just hope my mate is one of the guests.”
Drake blinked.
Then laughed.
Alexander wasn’t joking.
That realization stunned him.
“You really think she’s there?”
“I know she’s close.”
The confidence in his voice was absolute.
Drake had never seen him like this before.
Not during wars.
Not during negotiations.
Not during challenges.
There was anticipation in his eyes.
Almost excitement.
As though fate itself was finally moving.
Far away, inside Blood Moon territory, Selene stood alone beneath the stars.
Unable to sleep.
The strange warmth inside her chest had returned.
Stronger than ever.
She pressed a hand against her heart.
The feeling wasn’t painful anymore.
It felt like…
Longing.
As though someone was searching for her.
Calling to her.
Waiting for her.
The sensation made no sense.
Yet she couldn’t shake it.
Across the darkness separating two territories, the invisible bond stretched tighter.
Closer.
Closer.
Closer.
Neither Selene nor Alexander knew exactly how little distance remained between them.
By tomorrow night, they would be under the same roof.
And when two fated souls finally crossed paths, the Moon Goddess rarely allowed them to remain strangers for long.
The engagement party was no longer just a celebration.
It was becoming the stage for destiny itself.
