Fated to My Forbidden Alpha – Episode 7

Nightwind’s convoy would leave before sunrise, but the packhouse had not slept. Warriors checked armored vehicles beneath courtyard lights, security teams reviewed the mountain route, and servants packed ceremonial gifts into weatherproof trunks. Alexander Kane’s social visits resembled military operations because every territory watched where the strongest Alpha chose to stand.

Inside the council hall, Alexander studied Blood Moon’s shape on a map. Two obligations drew him east: a life debt owed to a grieving father and the bond his wolf insisted waited somewhere inside Jackson’s domain. By the following night, instinct would finally have a face.

Beta Drake entered with confirmation that scouts found no unusual movement and Jackson had approved the Nightwind guard detail. Alexander accepted the report, but Drake remained beside the table with the expression of a man carrying a problem he preferred to leave unopened.

The first folder contained proposed gifts for Jackson’s engagement: rare wine, silver-forged blades, and trade concessions designed to communicate exactly enough respect. Alexander ordered Drake to send something generous. If Blood Moon was hiding an abducted child, arriving as an honored guest would open more doors than entering as an enemy.

“Keep our friends close?” Drake asked. A dangerous hint of amusement touched Alexander’s mouth. “And men who may be concealing crimes even closer.” Blood Moon believed he was attending a celebration, while he intended to inspect its leaders, records, and territory for evidence connected to Selene’s disappearance.

His search for Ethel’s daughter and his search for a mate seemed to point toward the same land. The missing child would now be a young woman, perhaps living under another name, while the presence in Alexander’s bond felt frightened and isolated. He trusted patterns too much to dismiss the resemblance as coincidence.

Drake produced a second folder, and several portraits slid across the table. Each showed an accomplished she-wolf from a powerful family, posed to display the grace and confidence political advisers desired in a Luna. Alexander rejected the entire collection before his Beta finished introducing the first woman.

Drake reminded him that he was nearly thirty, unmated, and without an heir. Elders worried about succession, allies asked questions, and rivals invented explanations for why Nightwind’s Alpha refused every chosen bond. Alexander corrected his age to twenty-nine, earning a look that said the distinction helped no one.

The political pressure was real. Most Alphas who failed to find their fated mates eventually formed strategic marriages, and Alexander had met women worthy of respect. He had simply never felt recognition, and accepting one would mean closing a door his wolf refused to abandon.

Every year made that faith more expensive. A Luna could stabilize the succession and strengthen alliances, but Alexander had not built Nightwind by betraying his deepest instincts for convenience. Rank meant little if he used it to live a lie every wolf in his territory could sense.

Drake warned that Jackson might interpret an unmated Alpha as vulnerable. Alexander’s expression settled into dangerous calm. “Let him.” No wife’s bloodline had created his authority; he had earned it through battles, judgments, and the trust of wolves who followed his decisions.

“I am Alexander Kane.” The statement was neither boast nor threat, only fact. Drake rubbed his forehead and conceded defeat, muttering that he had at least tried to keep the elders satisfied.

Alexander returned to the window overlooking the moonlit mountains. His wolf no longer paced in frustration. It vibrated with anticipation as the connection from Blood Moon grew warmer, transforming years of absence into a promise he could finally follow.

Drake moved beside him and asked whether he truly believed his mate was at Jackson’s celebration. Alexander admitted he did not know if she would be a guest. The answer carried a quiet edge, as though some instinct already warned that the woman awaiting him did not occupy a place of honor.

Hope changed his stillness in ways Drake had never seen. Alexander had spent his adult life moving toward duty, answering each crisis because others needed his strength. Now an unfamiliar eagerness lived in his golden eyes, revealing that this journey contained something he wanted for himself.

Far away, Selene stood outside the servants’ quarters because sleep would not come. Stars crowded the cleared sky, and the familiar warmth returned when she pressed a hand to her chest. It carried longing, as if someone beyond the horizon searched for her with the same stubbornness she reserved for dreams of escape.

The female presence inside Selene remained silent after promising soon. Even so, she sensed another awareness listening with her, patient and alert. It waited for the boundary of her eighteenth birthday to fall, holding a strength Blood Moon had spent years convincing her she did not possess.

Across the distance, Alexander lifted his face at the same moment Selene looked toward the moon. The bond between them tightened without carrying words or images. Neither knew the other’s name, yet both understood the miles separating them had begun to disappear.

At dawn, Nightwind’s gates opened. The convoy rolled onto the mountain road with Alexander in the lead vehicle and Drake beside him. As the mountains receded, the bond gave one quiet pulse, and Alexander rested his hand against the window with the certainty that the woman at its other end was awake.

By the following night, Alexander and Selene would stand beneath the same roof. Jackson believed he was preparing an engagement celebration, but his ballroom was becoming the place where a stolen heir, a hidden rejection, and Nightwind’s most powerful Alpha would collide—and fate had given none of them a safe way to leave unchanged.
