Hillbilly Girlie Marries a Billionaire – Chapter 7

The chandelier light shimmered over polished marble floors, but the tension in the Maple Mall banquet hall was anything but elegant.

Emily stood frozen in the center of it all.

The woman from earlier—the so-called “original bride candidate”—had completely lost control.

“You bitch!” she snapped, stepping forward again.

But before she could reach Emily—

A hand caught her wrist mid-air.

The room went silent.

Lucas Anderson had arrived.

Calm. Sharp. Unmoving like a storm that hadn’t yet decided to strike.

“Touch her again,” he said quietly, “and call the police?”

He tilted his head slightly.

“Who do you think you are?”

The woman blinked, suddenly realizing the shift in the room. The attention. The pressure. The presence of someone who didn’t need to raise his voice to dominate everything around him.

“Oh my god…” she whispered. “What are you doing here?”

Lucas didn’t even look at her.

“I’m with my wife.”

That one sentence cracked the atmosphere like glass.

Gasps rippled through the crowd.

The woman’s face twisted. “She stole my spot! I was supposed to be here earlier today—she took it from me!”

Lucas finally turned his gaze to her.

Cold.

Unforgiving.

“You were late,” he said flatly. “That’s on you.”

He paused, then added, even colder:

“And for the record… I decide what’s best for me.”

Emily looked up at him, stunned. Not because he was defending her—but because he said it so simply, like it was the most obvious truth in the world.

The woman’s voice turned desperate.

“Mr. Andersen, please—she’s just some country girl wearing trash. She’s not good enough for you!”

A collective silence fell.

Emily’s fingers curled slightly at her sides.

She didn’t look away.

Lucas stepped forward.

Just one step.

But the entire room felt it.

“You think you get to decide that?” he asked quietly.

The woman hesitated.

Then Lucas said it—calm, final, absolute:

“Security.”

Two guards immediately stepped in.

“Ban this woman for life from Maple Malls,” Lucas ordered, “for insulting the CEO’s wife.”

“No—!” she screamed. “You can’t—!”

But she was already being dragged away.

Her voice faded into the distance, swallowed by the luxury she once tried to enter.

Silence returned.

And then—Emily finally exhaled.

She looked at Lucas, still processing everything.

“I didn’t know you had so much power…” she said quietly.

Lucas glanced at her.

“It’s no big deal.”

A pause.

Then, softer:

“You’re my wife now.”

Something in Emily’s chest tightened—not fear, not confusion… something far more dangerous.

Warmth.

Lucas adjusted his cuff and nodded toward the exit.

“Let’s go home. We need to get ready for tonight.”

Emily blinked. “Tonight?”

But Lucas was already walking.

And for the first time since entering his world…

Emily didn’t feel like she didn’t belong.

She felt like she had just stepped into something much bigger than she understood.

And Lucas—

For reasons he hadn’t named yet—

was making sure no one touched her again.
