How to Tame a Silver Fox – Episode 08

Christina repeated her invitation as though Chris had failed to understand rather than chosen not to respond. “I know somewhere we can talk.” She leaned close enough to make her intentions impossible to misread.

“I don’t like talking,” Chris said. His indifference unsettled her more than a polite refusal would have.

Christina recovered with a seductive smile. “Oh, I know your type, daddy.” Beside her, Becca laughed and moved closer, encouraging the game.

“Christina and I are into group activities,” Becca said. “Talk or no talk.” The proposition was delivered loudly enough to draw attention from nearby guests.

Chris remained unmoved. He had no interest in women who had entered Harper’s home to use her and then mocked her behind her back.

Christina’s smile sharpened. “You’re telling me you would turn down both of us for that nobody Harper?” The question exposed what flirtation had concealed: this was as much about humiliating Harper as winning him.

“Sorry, ladies.” Chris’s gaze hardened. “I don’t like my women desperate.” Their confidence cracked beneath the insult.

He stepped closer just enough to make the next warning private and unmistakable. “Mention Harper’s name again, and I’ll make you regret it.” Then he walked away, leaving them with the humiliation of rejection.

“He really picked Harper over us?” Becca asked. Neither woman could accept that his defense of Harper had nothing to do with a contest.

Christina watched him go, fury replacing desire. Harper had invited them, supplied their drinks, and still somehow managed to upstage them. In Christina’s world, that required punishment.

“We need to teach that nobody a lesson,” she said, “about what happens to skanks who think they can upstage us.” Becca’s answering smile sealed the plan.

Upstairs, Harper was still trying to make herself party-ready after the rain and her argument with Chris. When Christina appeared at her door, Harper mistook the visit for the friendship she had wanted.

“Do you think I could use your bathroom?” Christina asked. “Everyone is using the one downstairs, and—ew.”

“Yeah, of course.” Harper stepped aside immediately. Christina was school royalty, and being trusted with a private room felt like an unexpected sign of acceptance.

Christina thanked her and added that she could not believe they had not become friends earlier. Harper’s face lit with fragile hope. “We’re friends?”

“Of course. I have to pee. Wait for me.” Christina entered the bedroom while Harper agreed to remain outside her own door, too pleased to notice the insult.

Alone, Christina ignored the bathroom and searched for something damaging. Her attention landed on Harper’s personal diary, and the first pages rewarded her almost immediately. “This is gold,” she whispered.

The private confessions revealed a lonely young woman Christina had no intention of understanding. She called Harper psychotic and carried the diary toward the door, already imagining an audience. It was time, she decided, to shut the loser party down.
