I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers – Chapter 4
Raina was still trying to process the shocking news.
A family of eight.
Not three.
Eight.
Before she could even recover, a tall man covered in dust walked through the front door.
He looked exhausted, his work boots stained with dirt.
The man offered an awkward smile.
“Hi. Nice to meet you.”
“I’m your oldest brother, Noah.”
He scratched the back of his head.
“Sorry about the mess. I just got back from the construction site.”
Raina blinked.
Construction site?
Her heart sank.
Just how poor was this family?
Before she could answer, Mrs. Lincoln laughed.
“That’s not all, sweetie.”
“You still have four other brothers.”
Raina nearly choked.
Four more?
Her mind immediately began doing calculations.
Food.
Rent.
Utilities.
School expenses.
Medical bills.
A family this large would need a fortune to survive.
“Oh my God…”
She muttered under her breath.
“I’ll need at least five jobs if I want to support everyone.”
Soon another brother appeared.
Unlike Noah, this one wore a bright smile and carried a delivery bag.
“I’m Henry, your second oldest brother.”
“I’m an Uber Eats driver.”
He grinned proudly.
“If you’re ever craving anything, let me know and I’ll pick it up.”
Raina forced a smile.
An Uber Eats driver.
Her concern grew even deeper.
Then a third brother entered.
His expression was serious and intimidating.
“I’m Joshua.”
“The third oldest.”
He folded his arms.
“If anyone gives you trouble, tell me.”
“I’ll take care of it.”
The way he said it sounded slightly threatening.
Raina wasn’t sure whether to feel safe or worried.
Dinner was soon served.
The entire family gathered around a small table.
Mrs. Lincoln carefully placed a dish in front of Raina.
“I made this especially for you.”
“If there’s anything you don’t like, tell me and I’ll make something else tomorrow.”
Raina looked down at the meal.
The vegetables weren’t fresh.
The ingredients were simple.
Nothing like the gourmet dishes served daily at the Smith mansion.
Her chest tightened.
The Lincolns were struggling far more than she had imagined.
Across the table, Noah and the others secretly watched her reaction.
Just as we thought.
She’s already regretting it.
No wealthy girl could survive this lifestyle.
Any minute now, she’d run back to the Smiths.
But instead of complaining, Raina picked up a bite of food.
Her eyes widened.
It was delicious.
Incredibly delicious.
“This is amazing!”
The family froze.
Mrs. Lincoln nearly dropped her chopsticks.
Noah exchanged a confused glance with Henry.
Raina continued eating happily.
As she tasted the homemade food, an idea suddenly appeared in her mind.
If Mom can cook this well…
Then people would definitely pay for it.
She immediately began planning.
If I sell food near Noah’s construction site…
Maybe I can earn enough money to support everyone.
The more she thought about it, the more excited she became.
Finally, she slammed her hands on the table.
The entire family jumped.
“I’ve decided!”
Everyone stared at her nervously.
Was she leaving?
Had she finally reached her limit?
Raina’s eyes sparkled with determination.
“Tomorrow, I’m opening a food stand!”
The family blinked.
“What?”
“I’m going to help support this family!”
For the first time, the Lincolns were completely speechless.
Instead of running away from their supposedly poor lifestyle, Raina was already looking for ways to help.
And at that moment, every member of the Lincoln family felt the same thing.
Maybe this girl really belonged with them.
