I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers – Chapter 3
Raina stood nervously at the doorway of the Lincoln home.
For a moment, no one moved.
Then the woman suddenly rushed forward, tears filling her eyes.
“Our daughter’s back!”
She turned toward her husband and slapped his arm.
“Then why are you just standing there? Let her in!”
The atmosphere softened instantly, but once Raina stepped inside, the couple exchanged a subtle glance.
A look filled with caution.
After all, they had already been hurt once.
Years ago, they had raised Coco with all the love they had. Yet the moment she learned that her biological family was wealthy, she had abandoned them without looking back.
The memory still stung.
“We should keep our wealth a secret for now,” Mr. Lincoln had suggested earlier.
His wife nodded.
“Until Raina proves she truly wants this family.”
Now, sitting at the dinner table, Raina looked around the modest house.
The furniture was old. The decorations were simple.
Nothing like the luxurious Smith mansion she had grown up in.
Yet strangely, she felt more warmth here than she had felt in years.
Mrs. Lincoln gently held her hand.
“Raina, did the Smiths treat you well these past twenty years?”
Guilt flashed across her face.
“I’m sorry it took us so long to find you.”
Raina smiled softly.
“The past is in the past.”
Her voice was calm but determined.
“I’m a Lincoln now.”
“That’s all that matters.”
The couple’s eyes widened.
Those weren’t the words they expected.
Mr. Lincoln hesitated before speaking.
“You should know… life here may be difficult.”
“We’re not as wealthy as the Smiths.”
“If you ever decide you want to go back to them, we—”
“No.”
Raina interrupted him immediately.
The answer came without hesitation.
“I made my decision the moment I walked out of that mansion.”
She looked at her parents sincerely.
“I’m here to stay.”
The simple words nearly brought Mrs. Lincoln to tears.
Raina continued with a bright smile.
“I’ll find a job.”
“I’ll work hard and help support our family of three.”
For a second, silence filled the room.
Then both parents exchanged amused looks.
Mr. Lincoln cleared his throat.
“Actually…”
Raina blinked.
“Yes?”
Mrs. Lincoln tried not to laugh.
“There’s something we forgot to tell you.”
Raina suddenly had a bad feeling.
Her father grinned.
“We’re not a family of three.”
“What?”
“We’re a family of eight.”
Raina froze.
Eight?
Before she could process the number, the sound of several doors opening echoed through the house.
Heavy footsteps approached from different directions.
And suddenly, Raina realized that meeting her biological parents was only the beginning.
She still had five siblings she had never met.
And something told her that none of them were ordinary.
