The Alpha Queen Returns – Chapter 6
“Please… save me…”
Caroline’s desperate plea echoed through the empty courtyard long after Jessica’s vehicle disappeared from sight.
No one came back.
No one heard her.
The moment the Alpha Queen left, the Russo family’s fake kindness vanished completely.
Melissa stood in the center of the courtyard, staring at the transfer notification on her phone.
Her eyes widened.
Then she burst out laughing.
“A billion dollars.”
She looked at Rex and Reva in disbelief.
“She agreed immediately.”
Rex smirked.
“A normal healer doesn’t have that kind of money.”
Melissa crossed her arms.
“And Caroline still wants us to believe her mother isn’t sleeping with Ambassador Ansel?”
The three of them laughed.
Caroline clenched her fists.
“That’s not true.”
Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Jessica had sacrificed everything for her.
She would never allow them to insult her mother.
“Please don’t talk about my mom like that.”
The laughter stopped instantly.
Melissa’s eyes narrowed.
“What did you say?”
Caroline swallowed hard but stood her ground.
“My mother isn’t like that.”
The next second, Rex grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against a wall.
“You dare talk back?”
Caroline gasped for air.
Fear flooded her body.
Rex’s expression twisted with cruelty.
“Maybe I should rip your tongue out.”
Caroline’s eyes filled with tears.
She couldn’t fight back.
She didn’t even have her wolf yet.
To powerful wolves like Rex, she was completely defenseless.
Reva stepped forward eagerly.
“Let me teach her a lesson.”
She raised her hand, preparing to strike Caroline across the face.
But Rex suddenly stopped her.
“Wait.”
Reva frowned.
“What?”
Rex slowly smiled.
A smile that made Caroline’s blood run cold.
“Don’t touch her face.”
Melissa immediately understood.
“Oh?”
Rex nodded.
“I have other plans for her.”
Caroline’s stomach dropped.
She didn’t like the sound of that.
Rex casually leaned against the wall.
“Don’t forget.”
“Ambassador Ansel is hosting a welcome banquet for General Sarabeth tonight.”
Melissa nodded.
“The entire upper wolf society will be there.”
“Exactly.”
Rex’s grin widened.
“Every major Alpha in the kingdom will attend.”
His eyes settled on Caroline.
“Including Alpha Hunter.”
The name immediately caught everyone’s attention.
Alpha Hunter.
One of the strongest Alphas in the kingdom.
A legendary warrior.
A man whose influence ranked second only to General Sarabeth herself.
Many families would do anything to gain his favor.
And Rex had already come up with a plan.
“I’m going to offer Caroline to him as a gift.”
The words hit Caroline like a physical blow.
“What?”
Reva laughed.
Melissa smiled approvingly.
“That’s actually brilliant.”
Caroline struggled against Rex’s grip.
“No!”
She looked at them in horror.
“You can’t do that!”
Rex simply laughed.
“Oh, I can.”
His fingers tightened around her arm.
“Make sure you please him.”
Caroline’s eyes filled with tears.
“You’re monsters.”
The accusation only amused them.
Rex leaned closer.
“So what?”
Then he delivered the cruelest blow of all.
“It was your own mother who brought you here.”
Caroline froze.
Rex’s voice became colder.
“Remember that.”
“Your mother abandoned you.”
The words pierced deeper than any weapon.
Because part of Caroline feared they might be true.
Meanwhile, far from the Russo estate, Jessica sat quietly inside her clinic.
For some reason, she couldn’t stop thinking about Caroline.
Something felt wrong.
The image of her daughter’s frightened expression kept replaying in her mind.
Jessica stared out the window.
“Why did she look so scared?”
She whispered the question to herself.
Unable to ignore the feeling any longer, she activated a communication crystal.
Moments later, Ambassador Ansel appeared.
“Your Majesty.”
Jessica nodded.
“The Russo Pack is struggling financially.”
Ansel raised an eyebrow.
“So I’ve heard.”
Jessica didn’t hesitate.
“I want you to transfer one billion dollars from my personal account to Melissa Russo.”
Ansel looked surprised.
“A billion?”
Jessica smiled faintly.
“They’ve been taking care of Caroline for years.”
“If they need help, they should have it.”
Ansel bowed.
“As you wish.”
The connection ended.
Jessica felt relieved.
Surely the additional support would ensure Caroline lived comfortably.
But she had no idea what was really happening inside the Russo estate.
Or that the people she trusted most were already planning to sell her daughter for power and influence.
And tonight, at General Sarabeth’s welcome banquet, fate was about to bring every hidden secret one step closer to the light.
